Rich McBride gets sentenced for his DUI

".......can't drink alcohol for two years and must submit to random testing as part of his sentencing Tuesday to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Judge Richard Klaus sentenced McBride to perform 250 hours of community service, pay a $1,000 fine and serve two years of conditional discharge, a form of probation. But McBride, a former Springfield Lanphier star, doesn't have to report directly to a probation officer, keeping open the possibility of playing professional basketball overseas."

Oh really?.....Let's see...McBride had a DUI, Jamar had a DUI and lots more, then Calvin Brock was just in the news (see above link), and a few others who were drinking underage at that party dodged a bullet and strangely escaped from scrutiny.
Also, although not this school year, it has only been a year since Shaun Pruitt was arrested for his altercation with a bouncer at a bar.

"McBride... had a blood alcohol level of .181, more than two times the legal limit of .08. The prosecution argued the blood-alcohol level was too high for court supervision."

What's the level for court supervision?

(And wasn't Smith's level .176 HOURS after the accident?)

"The cold hard facts are there is a culture of alcohol abuse on campus and precious little is being done to deal with that."

With the recent news of T LaRussa's DUI and Hancock's drinking and driving, I'd say there's quite a culture of drinking in MLB.
Didn't they also find drugs/cocaine and marijuana in Darrel Kile's system when he was found, too?
What gives, I know they are adults, but do they all have to act so juvenile?

The report in the Champaign NewGazette says this

"a counselor who evaluated McBride called him a "severe risk""
"he reported that he drank about a half of a fifth of tequila in the four hours prior to his arrest and
"drinking to intoxication twice a week for about a year before his arrest"
