Eh, I'm not sure about that comparison. They're completely different players. Mullins is taller, more of a game manager-type. Maniscalco is more of a penetrator/playmaker, with a spot-on, stop-on-a-dime jump shot with range well beyond 3. I'd say think Jimmy Les with a jumper.
Jim Les was in the 3 point shootout at the NBA all star game 1 year, and I believe led the league in 3 point shooting 1 year.(I think) Anyway, Jim Les had a jumper.
I think those who saw Jim play know what I am referring to. Yes, he has a jump shot, and it turned out to be pretty decent one. But Sam's is a pure jumper. Jim's was/is more mechanical that is not as natural as Sam's, and took hours and hours of gym time to perfect. On top of that, Versace had to threated Jim with a benching if he wouldn't shoot the ball as senior, so let's say Sam is a Jim Les-type with more of a scorer's mentality and a more fluid jump shot. Fair enough?
Fair enough indeed. Unfortunately I have not been able to see Sam play in person yet, but everyone I've spoke to who has had great things to say about him, even going so far to say he's maybe underrated, and that he is a complete player and an ultra competitor. Plus, any comparison to Jim Les, IMO, would be a positive.
