PO'B was being interviewed by Lee Hall in the post game and Lee asked if this mad Patrick hungry for another shot........Pateick said yes and would come back next year to try and get back into the tourney!

I know this is real soon after the game but it's the first I heard Patrick talk about it........Please come back for at least one more year and see how far you and DR,WF and ZA can take us!

That'd be sweet... but if he's going to be a lottery pick, then he should, by all means, go to the NBA. I think this game, which was good, but not great for Patrick, may have brought his stock back down to earth. I guess it's time for the waiting game..... and here's to hoping Somerville's efforts getting recognized by NBA scouts.....

I think this will be the biggest story for us this summer; will he stay or go. He should stay because he's healthy, does not come from a family with financial hardship, can improve his game playing night in and night out, enjoys being at Bradley and becomes a lottery pick next year. He may go because there is less risk for a large pay day and he played his way to be a lottery pick.

The other major story lines for us will be recruiting and our schedule.

The NBA Draft is June 27, 2006.
If an undergraduate wants to have his name placed into the pool of draftable players for this draft he will have up until 6 weeks prior to the draft to declare so. he will then have up until one week before the draft to remove his name should he change his mind.
That gives candidates plenty of time to talk with certain representatives of teams, go to predraft camps and individual workouts, and "test the waters".

But if he hires an agent or goes past the deadline to remove his name from the draft, then he may not be able to regain eligibility to play next year, only the NCAA would be able to review individual cases and decide.
If he has been given plane rides or services by the teams who bring him in to work out, that might count as an impermissable benefit and could ruin his potential eligibility in NCAA's eyes.

So Patrick can do a lot of things between now and mid-May, but by then he would have to declare he is eligible for the draft and he'd need to make his final decision by about June 21 if he decides to return to college.

I believe BU would pay for the insurance policy. I'm sure the NCAA has an insurance partner that writes the policy.

It's great but I sure hope he stays I still think he would be better off staying and becoming a premier player. Imagine the records he will break. Tim Duncan played for Wake for 4 years and look at him now. POB will have a long pro career and should not rush the rest of his life. Staying and taking us to the next level would only increase the POB's brand and marketing dollars.

Hey POB, if you read this sight please achieve greatness with BU and then add to it in the pros. I could see BU riding you to the NCAA Final Four in 2 years. You could become our Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor and JL the next John Wooden. Well you can dream

I think POB will make more money over his NBA career by staying in school at least one, maybe two, years. According the numbers in this article, "Scale Salary Amounts for First Round Draft Picks," http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/scale.htm it is much more lucrative for a player who can be a lottery pick by staying in school an extra year versus being a lower 1st round pick a year earlier. Obviously, you have to make some assumptions as to where POB would be drafted this year versus next year. With all the attention he got during the tournament this year, he will get 4X that amount over the course of the season - his stock will certainly rise significantly. Its even a possibility that he could even be the number one pick if he waits until after his sr. year to go pro.

My opinion is that POB should take out an insurance contract and stay in school at least one more year - not for the sake of ol' BU, but to maximize his career earnings in the NBA.

I agree........he needs to come back next year bigger and playing a more consistant game....night in and night out and he will make a lot more money because..... next year he can be one of the ELITE player's in all of D1 basketball........money will not be an issue after 1 more good season for PO'B.........all the scouts already know who he is..........

According to an article in this morning's Dallas Morning News,

"Sophomore forward LaMarcus Aldridge, sophomore guard Daniel Gibson and junior forward P.J. Tucker said they plan to come back to Texas next season, although Aldridge didn't want to spend much time discussing it Saturday.
"As far as I know I'm coming back. But I'm not going to get into that right now," Aldridge said.

Barnes said there's little doubt that Aldridge is most likely "a top-five pick" in the NBA draft if he comes out after his sophomore season.
"It gets down to a decision about his future as a player," Barnes said. "He has to ask himself, 'What will best help me a year from now, two years from now or five years from now? Do I want the money right now? Or do I stay and do what I have to do and develop my game to where in two or three years from now, I'm the player I want to be?'
"Even if he leaves, it's a little bit of a dice roll as to whether he can develop his game the way he wants to so that he's the player he wants to be [by the time the second contract comes up]."
Barnes said Aldridge, who averaged 15 points and nine rebounds this season, already is being hounded by runners for agents trying to convince him to make the jump to the NBA.
