A couple are okay, but I think the sign of a very healthy program is 4-year kids at all levels.

Dick Versace rebuilt the BU program by bringing in several JC players, then going from there. I know that right now Jim doesn't have the rebuilding job Dick had, but we needed help in the middle and I hope he has solved that problem with a junior college recruit and hopefully CC.What part of illegal don't you understand?

That's my thought Chico. I don't mean to belittle JUCO players, and we've had some great ones (though I hate to see them go so quick)... but I think they're part of the rebuilding process. We have been using a lot because we have to, and while I think we'll probably always have a couple around, I think it'd be best if we had 11 or 12 4-year kids with a nice distribution between classes.

This sounds a lot like the other site i frequent for Indiana. All the IU fans are worried about the numerous JC players that Sampson is getting. My feeling is bring in whoever can help you win. Yeah when i was at BU we had Parker, Winlsow, Zobrist, Jackson and other 4 year players but i feel that JC players can come in and fill in make a bigger impact than some freshman. I think that JL will continue to build the program to a point that JC players will be the exception and not the norm.

I feel a good mix is healthy for the team and always believe in recruiting for the teams' needs at that point in time, but having 4 of the 7 recruits being two-year players is a bit much in my opinion. However, that gives us 8 of 13 scholarships in the Jr/Sr class and that's what we had last year. As of right now, we have 6 in the 2008-09 Jr/Sr class with two scholarships remaining. One of those possibly being filled with a juco player this signing period. My hope is that the other 2008 scholarship goes to a high school kid.
edited to add that I've included XC and Daniel West in the 2008 recruiting class.???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

New article on Buycks just showed up, but nothing here is new....it's been reported for quite some time.

I don't agree with that, dogs. Buycks is forced to go the prep route by his academic situation, not by outside influences, ala Dodie Dunson and Justin Dentmon who had "peeps" telling them they were better than ISU.
From things I hear, he has told the coaches he still wants them to hold the scholarship for him and is excited about coming to Bradley.
He visited Bradley and attended the Dec. 23 game against Southern Mississippi. As far as I know, nobody challenged him to a fight, and he had a great time. He committed immediately after his visit. He is still high on Bradley, and wants to play here. I realize that could all change in a year, but this sounds like a little better situation than most commits when they go to a prep school. As of now, Buycks is still saying he's committed to Bradley.
