The article states that Keeling "began his professional career in 1980 as an assistant men's basketball coach at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. In addition to his assistant coaching responsibilities, he planned and created the Academic Assistance Program for Student/Athletes. In 1986, he was named the assistant men's basketball coach at Marquette University".

I recall that prior to joining Bradley, Rudy was a teacher and head basketball coach at Bergan High School (which became Peoria Notre Dame).
Congratulations Rudy!

I'll never forget Rudy taking the Bergan boys team to the Class A state championship in '80, eventually losing to a Chicago Luther South squad that starred Pierre Cooper and Mike Conley, Sr. Nice to see Rudy is still "in the game". Best of luck, Coach K...

Before he coached at Bergan he was a coach at St. Thomas Grade School. I got to play for him in a grade school all star game. He was a good coach and a nice guy. Good luck Rudy!

Everyone liked Rudy when he was at Bradley. Unfortunately, when the Versace era ended, Rudy was left without a job. But the connections he had made in his time with Versace landed him a great job as an assistant at Marquette. From there he moved on to head coaching jobs at Maine and Northeastern. That was a great coaching staff with Versace, Tony Barone, and Rudy. Those 3 and Brad Dunn were responsible for that great recruiting class of 1984 with Tim Bankston, Hersey Hawkins, Jerry Thomas, Greg Jones, Donald Powell, Jerome Childs, Trevor Trimpe, and Len Bertolini. Those guys really put Bradley on the map.
