I played baseball at SIUE and this type of giving and taking scholorships occured each year I played. Guys who had them lost them and guys who didnt got them then might have lost them the next year. Academics, commitment, improvement etc were reasons why, but also simply the coach had a player who he thought was better or more deserving of the ride.

But this type of scholorship movement is very common in Football more then any other sport. But is more prevalent in Basketball simply because of the numbers.

College basketball is a bigtime sport and we at BU are right at the cusp of being a bigtime program. Hurting someones feelings went out the door long ago.

Keep in mind Mo moved guys out his first year and after his first year without reason, simply because he wanted too.

That's a good point. Scott Behrends, Kwame Brown, and others left when Mo got here, and not because they wanted to leave.

MMob, this is a topic board. What interests you might not interest other posters, and vise versa. So please don't suggest what other posters should respond to.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

          Chico I totally agree....well said.

I've been observing (without posting) this site for a long time it is my opinion that some of you take yourselves and this site too seriously.

I am a long time fan and supporter of Bradely and this site too but this is just a message board and nothing more.

            Chico, an Bob,
This is a pro-Bradley fan site. The site exists for the fun and participation of Bradley fans. And we welcome your input. But it is a privately owned site and we have adopted rules for posting like most sites.

The only time we ever seem to have strong disagreements about anything is when posters mistakenly think sites like Bradleyfans are bound by some constitutional free speech rights to allow anything people want to say. There is simply no such free speech rights here.

I was just hoping the discussion wasn't going to be all about this guy isn't coming back, or that guy is gonna get squeezed out, or how this guy isn't gonna make the grades, or etc. This board tries to keep such rumours from blossoming.

I was just hoping the discussion wouldn't sound so much like something one would read in a local newspaper with an axe to grind against a local school. (not that Peoria's local paper would do that with this local team)

Honestly, if one can't figure out on their own how/why a team would recruit a player when they are full on scholarships then...

As for the whole thing about me being a bully, and therefore people might think I am so full of myself, let me try to explain. I am actually trying to just joke around. There is one poster I am guessing feels bullied on this board (by me) and so I like to make a joke of it from time to time.

Chico and anyone else, if you would like to direct something to me personally not related to the topic, please feel free to PM me or email me.

MMob, I don't think you are being a bully. You just give your opinion, as I do. If you noticed, I hadn't responded to the post about the scholarship until you made your post. No need to pm anyone.

The original post in this topic asked "Any new idea on who is leaving or how this would be handled".
I posted that we have a policy against naming players who we think should go. If that's what people think is "taking ourselves too seriously", I don't mind. I just didn't want such a discussion to involve specific players. Simply reinterating the rules.

                          Well said DC.

I wish I had your ability to choose such nice words.

I think I tried to say the same thing but I went about it all wrong. I guess I am just a self-centered bully.

I can testify to that. And whats funnier is that you all make no bones about it. Therefore its not really an open forum, its more of a propaganda machine. On the flip side because it is privatley owned then you are subject to being held accountable by the rumor mongering that goes on here. I hope you legal staff is ready to roll

guy....most everything said on these boards IS allowed, and deletions are actually quite, quite rare.

We have fewer arguments, less bickering, and less trouble than any other board I have ever seen, and it's due to fair moderating.

But we do reserve the right to moderate posts that cross the line, and guess who decides where that line is....the moderators.

By the way....recently I posted a summary of all the stuff on lawsuits and what's said on message boards.

In all the years of message boards, there have been virtually NO successful lawsuits against people who simply stated an opinion or even a rumor.
The only suits were in cases of gross, intentions, and slanderous llibel of individuals, and even then...those suits are quite, quite rare.

BUT..........the suits always contained the disclaimer that the message board operators are NO MORE liable than would a coffee shop owner be liable if someone said something in onbe of his booths.

Just read the threads on this page....especially further down...

I check finished checking with each member of our legal council, and they say we're fine!

I recall that this topic has been discussed at length before. Proprietors of internet forums are not responsible for what others post, unless it violates trademark or licensing laws.
The fact that we do have guidelines and rules for posting demonstrates that Bradleyfans is showing responsibility.

This forum is like any other of millions of forums on the internet. We welcome ideas, but there are rules, like there are with anything else we do in life. I am sorry if that's a concept not everyone can understand.

What I don't understand is why if you find this board so objectionable and unpleasant, do you keep coming back? __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________
