  • The Missouri Valley next year

Article in Kansas.com about all the coaching changes--

Good read. I really don't expect any team with a new coach to be a contender for the MVC title next season, so things are really looking up for BU.

what teams do you think will be at the top?

IMO you gotta go with SIU simply from their recent history in the league. not to mention they have a few great players back.

also, i'm looking at UNI. they are returning coleman and one of their great perimeter shooters. i can't wait to see the 6'6" coleman try to post up on collins next season. haha.

other than these two teams, i'm not sure who will be good. bradley's got a real good shot at first or second in the conference.

Creighton had a GREAT recruiting year and if you had not heard Dana is back. That alone, means they will always be a contender.
The Shockers only significany loss is Kyle Wilson, but they seem to be having some internal problems.
And if King O stays, are friends down the road should be significantly better.
SIU always reloads and have Falker, Mullins, and Shaw to lead the way.
And then of course we have The Braves.
        Should be Fun!

          I thought Shaw graduated.

Shaw was just a junior. He will be back next year with Falker.

Here are my top standing's for next year:

              1) SIU (depends on how well BU gells, and if Collins is exceptional)
              2) BU
              3) Creighton
              4) UNI
              5) ISU
              6) WSU

i like that order stryker. i forgot about creighton's recruits. i think there will be a pretty big gap between UNI and ISU. i can't see ISU becoming that good. no doubt, they will be better but i think it'll be another strong top 4 like we had this year.

i really hope collins is great. i think he'll add a great defensive and rebounding threat. also, he's an enormous target inside so our threes might be lookin pretty again next season.

You don't think MSU is going to be in the top 6?

Well, I basically had a 3 way tie for MSU, ISU, and WSU. I think these three will be the 5-7 teams, I just don't really know which order they will be because it could go any way in my mind. ISU could be 7th, or up to 5th if they have a great year. I do know that SIU, BU, CU, and UNI are the top 4. Reason, I see UNI on the up side because they aren't missing a ton of important players from last year.

Also, for an upset into the top 4 I would pick Creighton to fall out. They relied very heavily on their seniors last year, especially Funk and Tolliver. It will be interesting if they can continue to be near the top without those two players. If CU does fall out I would say maybe MSU or WSU would jump up into the top 4.

Stryker's top 5 picks are pretty good. I'd have to think that SIU is the favorite to win the conference right now, with the 2-6 spots very much up for grabs. I think you guys will definately be in the mix in the top 2-3, and hopefully we are close to that as well. Heading into this past season I predicted we'd be in a battle with UNI and DU for 6th and we were. This year we could battle UNI for 5th or better (I hope.) The one neat thing is that there is a legitimate chance for the 3 Valley teams from IL to be in the top 4-5. We might all hate each other but it would be cool to see some state of Illinois hegemony in the league

Hey, I agree, I'm all for the in state teams doing well. And the years BU wasn't near the top I would be hoping for SIU to do good as well. It reflects well on the area and Illinois basketball as well.
