But as I've always said, Don Nelson has a long track record of not playing rookies, and disdaining true post-type players (he started and played Troy Murphy at center the first half of the season despite the fact he never played center).Comment

He was definitely smart enough to recognize the monetary opportunity and he seized it.
It just bothers me when someone tries to put down OB with a flat blanket statement 'he wasn't ready for the NBA'.... so he should have never gone to the league. All that tells me is the person isn't as smart as OB was to see the (monetary) opportunity he had.
Sorry we got in a wizzing contest. Anybody who played for a sports title in 1966 was around before I was born.

One thing you have to remember is how long it takes NBA centers to develop. It's hard for them to get better in college because refs don't call the game well for big men. They also develop (traditionally) VERY slowly and don't peak until near 29. I wouldn't be surprised if they traded POB next year either. I doubt he has much value, but it would be good for both parties.
I'm sure they knew he was an NBA project when they drafted him. I just hope they can develop him well.Comment
