  • Bradley and Texas

Matt Doherty has had a solid recruiting season. The SMU program is on the upswing and would make a great non-conference series for both SMU and Bradley. I think Bradley should build on their success in recruiting from the Texas JuCos and with the recent signing of Anthony Thompson out of Houston by inking a 4 year home-and-away series with SMU and the University of Houston. By alternating the away games (1 year in Dallas, the next year in Houston), that would give the Braves a game every year for the next 4 in the recruit-rich Lone Star State. I gotta believe the U of H and SMU would be interested as well so that they would have a chance to swing through the midwest for their own recruting purposes.

How about a home and home with Rice? Matt Hagen will be a red shirt Sophomore and is from Pekin. Marty Gillespie is also on the staff of Rice and is a former BU assistant. Plus I live near the campus so I definitly think Rice is a great idea.

They though are renovating their gym, and will be playing I believe through next season at Reliant Park, not in the football stadium but in one of the convention centers there.

I dont see Tom Penders putting a MVC school on his schedule at U of H. I agree though DB, SMU would be very good.

I think a home and home with Arizona State would be better.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Only problem is that Rice sucks . I didn't know that Doherty was at SMU....thought he was still at Coastal Carolina still.

DC, As ususal, you've got your facts straight.

My family and I live about 1 mile from campus. I've been to a few BU soccer games at SMU and the Lady Braves basketball team passed through this season as well. My 13 year old son has attended the summer basketball camp the last few years and I had a chance to visit with Coach Doherty last summer shortly after he arrived on campus. The program at SMU is coming back - one thing they need to do is strengthen their non-conference schedule.

Doherty had been at Florida Atlantic after being fired at UNC and then went to SMU from FAU.

Almost positive he coached the Chantelcliers into the A-Sun final last season (2006)?

                      Squirrel's right.

                      Circle takes a square.

"Doherty comes to the Hilltop after spending last season as the head coach at Florida Atlantic, where he led the Owls to a 15-13 season that included a 14-6 record in Atlantic Sun play, the best in school history."
