Drake lands a juco recruit

Alex White, a 6'6", 215 lb. juco forward from Cochise Community College committed to Drake today.

The article says--
White averaged 11.4 ppg and 8.9 rebounds this season while shooting 58% (160-275) from the floor. Alex scored 619 career points and grabbed 487 rebounds over his 62 career games at Cochise. "Alex really liked the family atmosphere and really felt comfortable with the Drake staff," said assistant coach Jeff Caha. "The undersized post player can score it on the block and can guard all 5 positions on the floor."

Alex is originally from Albuquerque, NM.

Cochise was 20-13 and lost in their regional.
He could be for them what Ajay Calvin was, immediate inside help.

Alex White was the 4th leading scorer on Cochise and top rebounder.

BUT...here is a little scouting report....
He shoots FTs terribly!!
He was 47 for 119 on the season shooting free throws.
That's 39% !!!!

Not much....I just learned about him from this board less than an hour ago.

Sounds like he's got a strong build, is athletic and can defend, but not a shooter.

My initial impression is that I'm not overwhelmed.
