  • Arkansas to hire John Pelphrey

Arkansas, after failing with Billy Gillispie and Dana Altman, finally has a new head coach. They will announce John Pelphrey as their new coach Monday at a news conference scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Monday.
Pelphrey has been head coach at University of South Alabama for the past 5 years. Pelphrey's record there was 80-67, .544 in 5 seasons.
Ironically, that is about the same as the record of Stan Heath (82-71, .536) in his 5 seasons at Arkansas before he was fired.

Pelphrey has been my man for years. I have thrown his name in the hat many times. He did pretty good at S Alabama. Now I'll find out if he is really any good. If he does well, and after Kentucky sqeezes Gillespie out, Pelphry will get the shot at the Kentucky job.

Pelphrey's 5-year record at South Alabama in the Sun Belt Conference, the 21st ranked conference is 80-67. (he was 36-48 in his first 3 years.)
      South Alabama's SOS the past 2 years has been - 215, 191.
Jim Les' 5-year record at Bradley in the Missouri Valley, the 6th ranked conference is 84-73. (He was 40-49 in his first 3 years.)
      Bradley's SOS the past 2 years has been - 21, 50.
Does Pelphrey's track record deserve $1.5 million per year?
