  • Indiana State Gets Verbal Committment

Indiana State today got a verbaly committment from
Lafayette Jefferson point guard Lamar Lee, a 6-1 170 lb. senior, who'll enroll and play for the Sycamores next season.
Lee averaged 15 ppg and 3 assists per game as a junior, but did not play basketball at all as a senior, as he was ruled ineligible at Jefferson HS after transferring there from McCutcheon HS.
Lee had previously committed to Evansville as a junior, but had never signed a letter of intent, and de-committed last September.
He is filling the scholarship left open by John Ashworth who was released from his committment to Indiana State.

I KNOW LAMAR!! HE'S IN ONE OF MY CLASSES!!

Didn't think he was going to get any D-1 offers. Most of his offers were coming from Southern Indiana, schools like that. Lamar did not play his senior season due to transfer rules, as the IHSAA ruled him ineligible after the commisioner ruled his transfer was for academic reasons. He and another transfer, from Central Catholic, Broderick Lewis, were ineligible to play for us this year after appealing to a state board of education panel. I will tell you, Lamar is a good kid. Very personable. He's not very bulky, so getting the opportunity to play D-1 ball, especially in the Valley, surprises me.

I will tell you, that because of the controversy this year, most of the school, including me, did not know Lamar had committed anywhere. I didn't even notice previous posts on here...makes me feel dumb!
