  • New coaches added to Drake staff

Rodell Davis (no relation to head coach Keno Davis or retired coach Dr. Tom Davis) has been hired as assistant coach at Drake.
Rodell Davis was a very highly successful junior college coach at Laramie County Community College (Laramie, Wyoming) with the ability to get a lot of talented Chicago players.
Rodell Davis played at Iowa when Dr. Tom was head coach there.

Also Chris Davis (who is also no relation to Keno Davis or Rodell Davis) has been promoted to associate head coach from the position of assistant coach.

    ......................................Rodell Davis.......................................Chris Davis.........Keno Davis.....Dr. Tom Davis

Keno looks just like his old man. Vitale used to have a huge man-crush on the good doctor
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Vitale must have relized Drake wasn't in a 'Power Conference' so their Coach couldn't possibly be good.

He also sounds exactly like his old man. Drake fans are pretty excited about this hire.....if Rodell Davis could talk a boatload of Chicago kids into going to Laramie, Wyoming; he should be able to help convince some to come to Des Moines.

It's also possible that he might bring 1-2 of his players from Laramie with him.

That is true, Rodell has become somewhat of a recuriting legend in Chicago, generally getting the middle-range kids and academically challenged at his juco program in Wyoming.
But will he be able to get the D-I caliber kids?

If Bradley can't get the top kids from Chicago, I don't see Drake getting them.

I'm not looking for Davis to get the top kids out of Chicago.....but, second-tier kids from Chicago would be great, too.

If you hadn't have told me there was no relation, I would have been fooled. Roddell seems to have a striking resemblance to old Dr. Tom!
