Are covered in a new premium article on the junior college prospects...

It is a premium article but if you don't already have it, PM me......

It confirms that Wade Knapp was visiting Bradley last week and that Charlie Coley will be on campus April 13-15.

Like I said I saw him on campus with JL. From a couple of other players I heard he was impressed with the community and atmosphere surrounding BU. But then again, that sounds like a stock compliment that could be used by a recruit who is as recruited as Knapp. Here's hoping he was genuine and decides to come to the hilltop.

For those who know.......why does everyone want Wade Knapp over Rashad Austin? RA is 2" shorter but is 25 lbs heavier and seems to grab more than 5 rbs a game? CC would be a great player for a scorer but is only 205lbs @ 6'7......don't we need a center first....or maybe there is more than one ride coming open....who really knows.....but I still wouldn't mind RA!

I think it's been made pretty clear he wants to stay closer to CA, or at least the impression I have recieved. That's why I haven't been too excited about him, but before the Doug Collins signing I would have galdly taken RA. Now I want Coley though.

Wade Knapp will be visiting Nevada this weekend and Missouri State next weekend. The MSU Bears really want Knapp, too.

            Coley

Couple things I found on Coley from Charlotte message board. They want him bad and he is scheduled to visit this weekend.

            per scout.com
            Quote:
The 6-foot-7 Coley averaged 11.7 points and 10 rebounds with 101 blocked shots (more than three a game) in helping lead Dodge City to a 23-10 record last season. He shot 57 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the three-point arc. Although 11.7 points doesn???‚¬?„?t sound like a lot what people have to take into consideration that the Conquistadors had five players average in double figures last season, and a sixth came off the bench to score better than nine points a game.

???‚¬?“Charlie was in contention with two other players for the Street & Smith???‚¬?„?s national junior college player of the year. He???‚¬?„?s arguably the most athletic junior college player in the nation,???‚¬?? Hoberecht said of the West Palm Beach, Fla., native with a 41-inch vertical jump.

???‚¬?“He???‚¬?„?s an outstanding athlete, bouncy. He has the ability to score, pass and create for his other teammates. He???‚¬?„?s a young man with very high character and that???‚¬?„?s one reason I think he???‚¬?„?s developed into the player he has because he wants to be the best,???‚¬?? the Dodge City head coach continued
Coley???‚¬?„?s strength as a player is ???‚¬?“his ability to rebound,???‚¬?? Hoberecht said. ???‚¬?“There are not a lot of kids in the country who can go get 10 rebounds a game as a freshman. His athleticism allows him to separate himself from others. He can go a little higher and is a little quicker than the other guy when he wants to.

???‚¬?“I call him a 6-7 combo forward. He has the ability to play on the perimeter facing the basket or go down on the block and score. He???‚¬?„?s still developing a guard???‚¬?„?s mentality to get by people and explode to the basket, because he???‚¬?„?s spent most of his career playing inside. At 6-7, handling the ball is not natural to him, but he???‚¬?„?s really worked on it and made himself better.

???‚¬?“He???‚¬?„?s a highlight film in transition. He has the ability in transition to make plays, and really do some exciting things.???‚¬??

Although Street & Smith???‚¬?„?s did not select Coley as its preseason player of the year, the magazine did name him to its first-team Super Sophomores squad.

            and.......

            Charlie Coley

            Forward
            6'8"
            225

            Dodge City Community College

Up, up, up, up. That's Charlie Coley still rising in the air as this high flying forward dunks all over a defender.

But now Coley brings a whole lot more to the table as he was a freshman at Dodge City Community College in Kansas this past year.

He is an extremely athletic rebounder/shot blocker and long. Coley was the only Freshman named to the NJCAA Region VI Division I All-Region First Team. He averaged 11.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. He also shot 42.4% from beyond the arc. He will be playing next season (2006-2007) and completing his sophomore year at Dodge City CC in May 2007 in hopes of transferring thereafter to a Division I school in Florida.

With his sickening athletic ability and clearly improved outside game, Florida tops his lists of schools of interest.

Here is a 2 year old article about Wade Knapp when he was in high school. He played at a small high school in Kansas, and it sounds like he was more of a wing type player in high school that scored mostly on drives and jumpers.

Coley is also a wing type. So it sounds like David Collins is more of the true post type player that I think Bradley needs.

The good news about Coley visiting the 13th thru the 15th is we can sign him before he leaves town.

That's what everyone is hoping for.
I have heard the coaching staff is still recruiting about 4 junior college kids, and one of the prior recuiting targets, Rashad Austin (who made a visit to Bradley) is no longer one of them.

I also have just heard that the staff is backing off Rashad Austin, and wants to leave it up to him if he wants back in the race.
You can only expend so much energy, time, and resources if a kid seems uninterested.
As we all know, we are NOT Kansas, USC, Duke, or Oklahoma, and we don't have the ability to pay recruits $10,000 like Kansas paid Darnell Jackson, or arrange through some booster and sports agent for them to live in luxury housing like Reggie Bush did at USC, or get them jobs that pay $20,000 per year like Oklahoma does, or secure them all Mercedes Benzes like Duke. In fact, even the Illini players seem to drive far nicer cars than BU kids drive. I saw the car Daniel Ruffin drives to the Fieldhouse for practices, and it is an old red bomb, not a nice Lexus or Hummer.
Probably no program in the country IS and HAS TO BE as fair and clean as BU is, since the big boys who control the NCAA seem to always want to dig until they find something at the midmajors.

For the scrutiny, I think our coaching staff does A GREAT JOB!!

Wow, I didn't realize Doug Collins had any eligibility left.

Plus, never underestimate how many anti-Bradley fans there are in the area. There are plenty of them around who enjoy trying to undermine Bradley's success.

Coley was scheduled to make a visit to Charlotte this weekend, and Bradley next weekend. Now he has rescheduled his Charlotte visit to the weekend of April 20-22. I don't know if that works to the advantage or disadvantage of Bradley. Maybe he'll not want to commit until he sees Charlotte. There was also a possible visit to Louisville set for April 20. That must be off.
