As expected UNI has named Ben Jacobson as new head coach.
His very first action was to contact and assure that the recruits Greg McDermott had secured will still be honoring their LOI's.
7'1" Jordan Eglseder is UNI's top incoming recruit, and was just named Class 1A (smallest division) All State after he led his Bellvue Marquette team to the championship game before falling in the title game to George-Little Rock 49-47.
Jacobson expects all four players who signed last fall - Eglseder from Bellevue Marquette; guards Kerwin Dunham of Bondurant-Farrar and Kwadzo Ahelegbe of Oakdale, Minn.; and forward Adam Koch of Ashwaubenon, Wis. - to honor their commitment.
Jacobson visited Dunham and Eglseder in their homes Tuesday night, talked to Ahelegbe on the phone and was driving to Wisconsin to visit Koch at his home Wednesday evening.
Eglseder, who had expressed a desire to follow McDermott, told Jacobson he would be at Northern Iowa this fall.
