  • BU Prof./Fan in Hospital

I just heard about this today from one of my roommates:

Dr. Freim, who has been teaching in the Physics dept since 1968 and is a season ticket holder, has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is in the hospital.

He's had a lot of medical issues in the past, but it sounds like this is really serious. He won't be back teaching for the rest of the year. I've had a class of his before, and Dr. Freim's a really great, funny guy.

I'm working on getting an address if anyone is interested in sending a card or well wishes.

If anyone knows an email address to forward well wishes, let up know.
Dr. Freim has been a longtime supporter of BU basketball, and a well liked prof.

From Bradley's online directory, his email address is: freim@bradley.edu

The physics major that told me about Dr. Freim is going to talk to the dept. about where to send cards, and I'll post that as soon I as hear from him.

Yikes. His sense of humor was the only thing that made an 8 a.m. physics class tolerable. His jokes almost never failed to make me laugh, even when they were directed at me.

abe...I am a graduate with a degree in physics from BU and recall working with Dr. Freim.
yes...strange as that may sound, he has been at BU THAT long, and he was very well liked by the students.
I wish him a speedy recovery.

The Physics Dept. also just lost another of their long time great profs and my favorite physics prof to cancer a couple years ago in Dr. John Kenny.

Dr. Kenny was awesome. His sense of humor and teaching methods made 8am Physics class worth going to.

Doc Freim will have surgery Wednesday. He has struggled with cancer for the past 8 years and hopefully this surgery will help. Please keep Doc in your prayers this week.

My prayers will be with Dr. Freim. His class was one of the best I ever had at Bradley.

One of his bonus questions on a physics exam was: Spell the name of the singer that sang "Oops I did it again" and was rumored to be attending Bradley?

                Answer: Britney Spears

I think that was the only question I got right. Truly great teacher.
If you build it, the students will come.

                  Dr Freim

Doc is currently at Methodist Hospital in Peoria (Cresent wing # 61 , in case you wish to send a card. He is scheduled to have his leg amputated tomorrow. Your prayers and kind thoughts would be appreciated by his family.

I spoke to him yesterday and even though he is facing a really tough time, there were moments when the old Doc we all know showed through. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Another Freim bonus question: What's your sign? But you actually didn't get the bonus if you put down a zodiac sign because the miniscule gravitational effect that the stars had on us proved that it was meaningless. Thankfully I put down sacrifice bunt.

I had it on one of my tests. He actually gave everyone credit for it.

                            Message from Doc Freim's Daughter

Thank you all so much for your support for my father during this difficult time for our family. Your support, messages and well wishes have meant so much.

My father is doing well, not ready for visitors as of yet, however, you can send cards.

Again, thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.
                            Kind Regards,

Vicki Kellar (Freim) Dr. Freim's Daughter
