Recruiting info and who's committing, who's leaving, etc.
is the kind of closely guarded secret that darned well better not show up on message boards,
or else the head coach has a leak in his organization. But given everything else is speculation,
then I think the info about BU on this site is 2nd to none, and is ahead of any other source or media outlet.

bravesmanager...I really don't think I have seen anyone say
          "Ruff's leaving next year".

What people have been discussing is that Ruffin might have his degree and consider leaving, not that he is leaving.

Either way, the strong word now is that he will not be leaving, and I am looking forward to seeing him next year.

I have to agree.....I haven't heard ANYONE try and pass off info like they had first hand definitive answers.

I keep thinking of DA last year...all but flat out told me he was gone.

So even if DR himself stated he was coming back its a loooooong offseason. yajusneverknow.....

I've been mulling this too (again, lack of "real" basketball news, aside from the NIT T-shirts). Of the candidates discussed at one time or another to leave, one's been in extremely good, social spirits while speaking candidly about his hopes for next year and the other is getting dragged along to appearances. My bet's on one on one of the recruits no-showing on campus.

Aside from bm11's assurances, I really can't imagine Ruff leaving because he didn't do Senior Night, not even "in case", a la DA last year. Even from what little "actual" contact I've had with him, his ties to the community and the program seem far too strong for him to leave without a proper good-bye.

Maybe the spin-spin rumours of Ruff and CB both leaving held water.....

....and now both staying are holding water.

                Maybe they like working together.

Here's to Bradley winning the MVC next year and it starts right here with CB and DR.

                GO BRADLEY!!!

I found a comment from an interview, where Illinois coach Bruce Weber gives his opinion about
people on the internet discussing recruiting:

"Q: Does all the Internet stuff get in the way of recruiting?

A: There's no doubt it's unfair, because people don't know the story. They don't know what's going on, all the details. They don't know about the grades. There is no accountability. That's the tough part about college basketball now. Anyone can say anything and someone believes them and jumps on board.

Derrick (Burson, from the Illini sports information office) told me the other day there was a post about me being at the Bloomington airport. They wanted to know why I wasn't out recruiting. I was taking my daughter to the airport so she could go on spring break. I haven't had a day off since Christmas. We can't recruit every day. That's what we have to deal with. There is nothing we can do. There are people who live on the Internet."

But I have a question about the "Anyone can say anything" part...

Tell me what's different about the internet than any discussion on the street, any discussion in a bar, any discussion at a basketball game, any letter I write to a friend, anything Ron Guenther says at courtside, anything Gregg Doyel says in his column, or anything I say anywhere, anyway?
I'm just curious why he trashes the people on the interent because they can "say anything" when he and just about everyone else already had that right anyway?

I think the reason is the internet is anonymous for anyone who wants it to be. As he states there is no accoutability for anything anyone says. Gregg Doyle has to stand by his column, your letter is written by you.ect.. Also conversation on the internet can be instant and 24 hours a day, unlike most of the other things you mention.
                          Can we start winning soon?

I hear you, and I have heard those viewpoints before...but ...
The internet is essentially a "bulletin board".
And bulletin boards have been around for eons...ways for people to leave a note, a message, an opinion.
And so has expression of opinion in many different manners.
The big media elite have had the right and ability to express their opinions broadly for decades, but now when the "little guys" claim a tiny bit of the same right, then suddenly, "it is unfair".

Sorry, I am not buying it.
The internet is no more anonymous than the guy sitting next to me on a subway saying "Bruce Weber doesn't recruit very well". Is he required to give his name and ID before he has that opinion?

But just as soon as someone says it on the internet, then Bruce Weber whines about the internet and says it is unfair.

Then are seats on the subway unfair?
How about conversation around the water cooler?
How about the opinions expressed in the newspaper or the responses that Phil Luciano was all up in arms about?
Where do you draw the line on what's unfair and what's not, and please point out the line in the Constitution that says speech is free unless it is "anonymous, instant, 24 -hours a day"...then it is unfair.
And just who gets to be in charge of determining what speech is over line since it's "anonymous, instant, 24-hours a day."?

There was once a time I posted opinions on a different local message board, and someone else edited and axed my post at their whim...was that fair?
So now I have come somewhere else and posted here at my own expense...and you are going to tell me that I can't?

Out here in Arizona the East Mesa Tribune has a section called the Vent. You can call in, leave a comment and you don't need a name. That is the first part of the paper most people look for.

What about the accountability? I can come on here or another board and post lies, rumors half truths that thousands of people may read not just the one guy on the subway or the few guys at the water cooler. In addition if I am at the water cooler I presume I am at work, which means I have to stand by what I say and back it up or my reputation could be hurt, Even if its only in regards to my sports knowledge. I point out also that this board does not allow complete free speech. You will edit or delete negative posts about Bradley and certainly will not allow negative rumors without basis in fact or already reported stay on the board. Other boards do not have such moderators so all the stuff you censor here is let go. Do you think its fair for people to post speculative material that could be half the truth?
                                Can we start winning soon?
