National Player of the Year = Kevin Durant, first freshman ever to win the award
(25.8ppg, 11.1rpg averages, the 1st player from Texas to ever win the award, JJ Redick won it last year)

National Coach of the Year = Washington State's Tony Bennett
(he is the 1st coach from Washington State to win the award, Roy Williams won last year)

I'd say they got it right this time. I think those would be my choices, gotta take Durant over Oden, if nothing else because Oden missed half the season. For Oden to even be under consideration is a testament to how good he is (and hype). The great the is that Oden is a really nice guy, I'm bitter that he 'questionably relocated' in high school because he would have gone to my High School, but none the less, he is a really stand-up guy.

Good for Tony! I played a pick-up game against him when I was a senior in college and he was a senior in high school. He was the best player on the floor! His dad is a terrific coach and I am not surprised.

The fact that Bennett won the National Coach of the Year is again proof that the award SHOULD go to the guy who despite
whatever level of talent he had on his team, actually DID the best job of coaching this season, and
that Jim Les should have won the Valley Coach of the year if those who voted would have only looked at the obvious instead
        of voting with preconceived bias.

Bennett did the best job of coaching. (as did Jim Les)
If the award was actually for the coach who did the best, then Donovan or Matta should win. If the award is for the coach
who had the best players, then Roy Williams or whoever else has a stable of McD AAs.
Same for the Valley, the coach who actually did the best job of coaching didn't get the award this season.
