    Just wondering.

There have been four new coaches in the Missouri Valley
All four have been white, no minorities.

There are two open spots in the Big Ten and the leading candidates for both are white.
One Big Ten school did hire an African American, but they took him from a school that will likely replace him with a white head coach.

There have been 22 new hires so far, and only 5 are minority, and three of those (Rich McKay, Tubby Smith, Ricardo Patton) are not really new hires, but are among the coaches fired somewhere else.

    Anyone bothered by this trend?

How do those numbers compare over all to the percentage of minorities who are currently head coaches in DI basketball? I don't know the answer to this - are at least 23% of DI coaches african-american? If it is less than 23%, then the current hiring trend is above the current percentage of coaches, which means that more minorities are getting hired and things are trending positively for minority candidates.

IMO, the current state of affairs is pure coincidence, and the coaching carousel hasn't stopped yet.

I believe a school should be able to choose based on who they believe will do the best job for them and race should not be an issue.

Equity in hiring is really a tough subject.
Of course there are lots of people who think more Black Americans should be head coaches, and maybe there have been times that discrimination was prevalent.

One interesting question is whether a Black head coach might even have a certain advantage in recruiting kids from minority backgrounds?

Were none of the 17 non-minority new hires fired somewhere else?

              I agree completely.
