  • ESPN's Bracket Challenge

My son is signed up and his bracket is in about 1200th place right now.

Over 3.3 million entries were submitted,
and NOT ONE, I repeat NOT ONE has every game right to this point.
But 45 out of 3.3 million have the final 16 team all correct, because even missing a first round game might still allow you to get the winner of the next game.
5,404 entries had NONE of the Sweet Sixteen teams, in other words, they had all sixteen of the final teams wrong!

I haven't and will not bother checking, but I bet those 5,404 just failed to fill out their brackets.

Its kind of a small piece but if you missed it, last years ESPN bracket winner was only 1 of 4 that had a perfect final four out of about 3 million entrys. Of course, George Mason probably had a lot to do with that. Although this years UNLV could cause the same havoc.

Last year's winner also admitted that he won because he confused George Mason with George Washington. Damn the luck...
People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

Maybe he was confused as George Washington was a freemason.

Here is a little more useless trivia. Mason County in Illinois (county seat is Havana), was named in honor of George Mason, even though George Mason never set foot in Illinois.

And Washington, Illinois was named after George Washington, but it is not in Mason County.

I thought it was named in honor of Anthony Mason, the former New York Knick!
