Hmm, not impressed with Kansas. A couple easy charges could of been called for SIU and of course the huge shot clock violation that was missed. That could of been a possible 6-8 point swing for SIU. Meanwhile, has SIU been a 3 point shooting team all year? I don't remember them shooting this many 3's before there last game. 13 threes last game and 6 for 25 in tonights game. Meanwhile Kansas only attempted 6 threes and hammered it out for a 60% FG shooting on the game. Well got another close one for the A&M game, this could be 4 intense games tonight.

I agree...SIU certainly had their chances, and a few ticky fouls in a short stretch in the middle of the 2nd half were tough.
Too bad, but I really am happy for the SIU kids and their fans that they had this opportunity to show the Valley proud.
Since 1999 the Missouri Valley has had five teams make it to the Sweet Sixteen.

To futher add insult to the midmajors, here is the CBSSportsline summary of the game--

Note that at the end of the 5th paragraph. It says--
Kansas also dodged its second straight tournament loss at the hands of the Missouri Valley Conference, which takes the "mid" out of mid-major with each passing year. Butler beat the Jayhawks last season

So the geniuses at CBSSportsline think the Butler is in the MVC, and it was Butler that knocked Kansas out of last year's NCAA!

The text has already been changed to
"Bradley beat the Jayhawks last season"

The erroneous copy was actually the original AP version of the story, not CBSSportsline. At least the corrected it quickly.

But in doing a news search, there are innumerable versions of the earlier version out there that still read "Butler beat the Jayhawks last season". See the end of the 3rd paragraph--

The Chicago Tribune still has the Butler version--

I thought it was funny that even Bilas pointed out late in the game that "alot of the quirky calls are going against SIU".

Neither am I, which is why I had them only going to the Elite Eight before losing to UCLA. But I was rooting for SIU, as that would have not hurt me that bad in the bracket, and of course hoping for an Elite Eight appearance by the Valley. That didn't happen, but a very gallant effort by SIU. Great job guys!

However, Ohio St losing will hurt me a lot more, if that score holds up!

SIU proved that the valley is a good basketball conference and on a neutral floor can compete against the so called major schools; 2 plays hurt SIU towarsd the end when Mullens made the steal and missed the layup and Tatum missed the easy followup and Falkers bad pass as this game could have been won by SIU; credit Southern as they frustrated Kansas and made them play their style of game.

I wonder if the best set of guards in the nation are feeling a little sore this morning. That game was a war from the start. You could tell the SIU boys had a chip on their shoulder. I thought Mullins, Young & Tatum looked pretty good out there. You know, they weren't blue chip recruits, but I'm sure the KU guards knew they were there.

I only had the chance to see a few minutes of the first half because of the AM game shown here but SIU loses by 4 and the horrible no call on the late shot and the missed dunk by Tatum.. 4 point swing and SIU wins.
