HAHAHAHAHA, Altman has three of four dream jobs. Over time, I have never learned who they are but many schools, I have learned without doubt, are not on the list. Surprisingly, Iowa is NOT on the list. I once feared this job opening but no more.
Perhaps you should worry about your own coach since he makes itty-bitty money in Peoria, USA.
But this is in contrast with what I have heard and read.
Altman loves recruiting Iowa, and loads up every year on his Kyle Korver/Nat Funk/Pierce Hibma/Casey Harriman type players.
I have heard it said that if any job could draw DA away from Creighton, it would be Iowa.
I ran across this blurb in the Utah press about the candidates for the spot there:
"Dana Altman: An apparent candidate three years ago, he has had a solid career at Creighton, but a lack of NCAA tournament success (two wins in seven trips) and a bland personality make him unlikely to be considered."
Like Utah is sooooo above Creighton?
Let's see, how many postseason wins did they have this year...
I have seen one of the Iowa recruits, Beas Hamga, the 7-ft stud from Decatur Christian, who is really already about 20 years old,
and the kid is a Greg Oden-like dominating force.
Does JL know the area code for Decatur??

Good point, Tornado..as if Utah was a too-good-to-pass-up dream destination. lol Creighton compares pretty favorably to Iowa too, imo
Has anyone ever mentioned the recruiting "scam" disguised as a charitable organization that feeds the foreign players to Decatur Prep and other schools?
Various state high school rules and NCAA rules prohibit outside dollars from rounding up players and funnelling them to select high schools, then paying their tuition.
But this all gets done with the ultimate goal of getting the kids to colleges, then the pros, where a big return can be seen in the initial investment. When you hear about the tens of millions of dollars the pros get in salaries and shoe money, even a small amount of that in the European pros is still a big payoff for some of these "scams".
How come nobody asks where the money comes from to send these poor African kids to America, house them, pay tuition, etc.?
Why do the coaches of schools like Decatur Prep and AAU promoters like Reg Tisdale supposedly "serve" on the boards of charitable organizations, whose sole job is to pay the costs of getting players to the US and putting them on high school and AAU teams, interestingly coached by those very coaches and AAU promoter? (recall, big shoe dollars get spent at AAU events outside the scrutiny of state organizations and NCAA.)
Nobody ever seems to talk about this.

That is interesting, all the wheels getting greased, so nobody seems to care.
As long as those players don't play in IHSA games, then nobody really does care.
Same thing in Chicago with Mac Koshwal moving to Illinois, living with his high school coach, having his official guardian legally changed to be his high school coach, then when he's declared ineligible because of overtly fraudulent transcripts, he just goes to prep school and keeps on playing.
Not too hard to figure out that his coach sees Koshwal as a fine meal ticket if he makes the pros.
Koshwal will be older than every player on the DePaul roster, even though he is just a freshman next season.
Everyone knows BTMA and Decatur Prep are using players who wouldn't be eligible if they were in IHSA, I have shown that as well.
If Koshwal plays a minute of hoops at Depaul, I'll run around Carver Arena in my boxers during the halftime of the BU/VCU game next year. In other words, it ain't happening...
Lou-
you are going to get cold, because it is almost a certainty that Koshwal will follow in the footsteps of his good Sudanese buddy Thijin Moses, who did go to DePaul and play this season.
I have always thought and said that I believed these overage, foreign players are somewhat overhyped as well, and Thijin Moses is just another case in proof.
Moses was very highly hyped and touted, was Blue Demons fans' hope for a great 3-point shooter, and yet barely saw court time at DePaul.
He averaged only 2 minutes per game and scored a total of only 23 points on the season.

"Thijin Moses to DePaul
Jul 17, 2006
Another big time prep school player from the Sudan is going to play college ball this year. Thijin Moses, a 6-8 forward out of Boys to Men Academy in Chicago committed to DePaul University and should be eligible to play for the Blue Demons in the 2006-2007 season. Moses' teammate at Boys to Men, Mac Nyal Koshwal , also originally from the Sudan, might be joining him next year."

Somebody Sticky this so we don't forget this promise. This will be classic. The only thing that remains in question is what kind of boxers.
Deal is said to be done, and Iowa has apparently given their blessing.
This way, Iowa won't have to buy Alford out.
Alford's top assistant, Craig Neal, is also going to New Mexico.
I know it's a sad day for Illinois fans and the other Big 10 schools. With the right hire, Iowa might be done being a Big 10 afterthought. You can sum up the Alford era with 2 things - Pierre Pierce and Northwestern St.
Word is Alford's getting $1 million plus per year with 6 years guarantee.
This is as much and more with incentives than he was getting at Iowa.
They'll regret the hell out of this. Alford will fail miserably at New Mexico.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Agree 100%. I swear, these folks in Albequerque don't read the newspapers. Haven't they seen Alford's record of failure at Iowa, and his disregard for integrity in his basketball program? Haven't they heard the stories of him walking out on hefty bills at restaurants and not paying for his suits to tailored because he's 'the coach'?
