Mac....I could recruit kids to KU.
    Apparently so can Bruce Weber!

Danny I will like to hear you're thoughts on this.

ISU fans really feel like they will be very good next year....what if they finish .500.

To me the guy is coming in with no room for error.

Bare minimum is getting out of the playin game....if that doesn't happen, and I don't think it will be as easy as some think...look out.
I know you directed this at Cooksey, but I'll chime in too.

Assuming (hoping and praying) we keep everyone, then we will have the pieces in place for a good year. We will have a good amount of talent and experience, and can hopefully add another couple good players with our remaining 2 schollies. I agree, getting out of the play-in round is a must. We almost got out of it this year but oh well.

If we retain everyone on the roster and finish .500, I would be rather dissapointed. There is a chance for us to have a strong year next year, but like Cooksey aluded to, we must concentrate on keeping our roster intact. If we do, then thats a good first step. Time will tell on this hire, but again the potential exists for immediate success IMHO.
No problem and thanks for chiming in.....I think expectations are high from ISU fans. Thats got to be tough for a first year coach. I get the feeling, as you kind of indicated, that there is a MINIMUM standard of no playing game.

Assuming UE,DU,InSU stay at the bottom ISU will have to leap past BU,CU,SIU,WSU,MS or UNI. Lots of assumptions but really no easy task.
True. No team or game in the Valley is "easy". That said we were close to being in the thick of things this past season. We found new ways to piss away games we should've won. Had we not done that, we wouldve been right there. Hopefully this new coaching staff is the fresh start that we need to get over the hump. Like I said, if everyone stays, and we get another couple good players with our remaining schollies, then we will have the team in place to be good. If the new staff can then develop a good system around these players' abilities (like you guys did), then we'll be right there.
I agree but what I'm asking is what will the fans do or what do they want? A new coach needs time to develop...IF ISU is a Thursday nite team again I see the natives going crazy.

I get the feeling many think its a given that Thursday is out. Now its what MORE can you do for us coach. IOW..talent returning alone is enough to move us (ISU) up....

The natives have been going crazy for some time now as it is Right now the majority of our fans seem excited about this guy. While they may be adopting a "wait and see" stance, I think there is some excitement based solely on the fact that we have a new coach. If the team stays intact, I would expect a slight (if not significant) attendance increase at least at the outset of the season for no other reason than the staff is new. There are a lot of our fans who refused to come to games simply because Moser's staff was still there. Sad and embarrassing, but true. There are other factors as well---who we get on the non-con sched (so far its not bad with home games vs. Cincinnati, UIC, and the BB), and of course the cure-all: WINNING.

If the team stays, then avoiding Thursday should be entirely possible. We lose some very key guys after next year, so his first recruiting class will be vital to see where we are going. The chance is there for him to hit the ground running with a good year off the bat and if that happens, then I think our fans will be back and will be patient with his recruits during the '09 year. Time will tell on all of the above of course...

So did Zenger make any effort to interview anyone besides his hand picked guy?
          Does that bother anyone?
Does not bother me at all

According to WJBC radio, Jankovich signed a 5 year deal and Bill Self himself called Zenger to pitch him as a candidate....
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

                Damn

I missed it!! Did anyone catch it? I heard a couple minutes of him on WJBC at lunch today, but I would have liked to hear those guys interview him when they know little to nothing about the Valley
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

I heard the whole thing.. He sounded excited to be in teh Valley- said it is a good league and that he thinks it is almost as good as back in the Big O and Wes Unseld days.. which goes back to Louisville and Cincinnati...

Said he met briefly with team and felt positive...

B&B asked if Bill Self would mind if he brought Collins and Wright back to Illinois State with him....

thanks Braveman. He might as well add Rush whiles he's at it.

BTW-Who is the hammer in the picture? She's solid.

She is Julianne Viani, one of the star players for Marist... Who made it to the women's Sweet 16....
