I have always "hated" ISU.................(but just in a good, clean, fun sort of way)

IMO ISU = Green Bay Packers

I am new to this board, but in good fun, I always liked the saying: You can't spell I s*** without I SU!
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Dr. Fuller, the dept. chair of philosophy and the honors program at Bradley, once referred to ISU as the K-mart of higher education in a class of his I had. I nearly fell out of my desk laughing. I've been using that since to raz people I know from ISU.

I've had some other profs dis ISU openly in class too. I'm glad the faculty helps keep the rivalry going.

But let ISU's fans say whatever they want, they have no where to go but up.

I can tell you that posts like this are why people at redbirdfan start threads like the one that sparked this thread. As many people that accuse ISU of having no class, there are an equal number of BU fans with elitist attitudes like this (joking or not) that ruffle the feathers of Redbird fans alike.

Most of the posts in the thread are fine and actually supportive.
I don't find anything objectionable, it's just common message board talk.

Good luck to new coach Tim Jankovich, and I am anxious to see how he approaches the Chicago recruiting.
He should have good ties to the Kansas and Texas area jucos.

I am tired of JUCO's and I really hope Jankovich only uses them as filler and not to build his program around them. He needs to hit home runs with the highschool talent.

Hopefully KU's season will end Thursday night and he can get to work Friday morning.

I agree, every year teams like Iowa, UNI, Creighton, Drake, and even Indiana State find some little known, talented kid out in the middle of Iowa, Indiana, Oklahoma, etc.
For example...hardly anyone else wanted Kyle Korver, Nate Funk, Josh Young, or even Shawn Jeppson.
A good coach can use that kind of talent, and Jankovich is sitting right in the middle of a lot of talent.

Yes he is. I hope he is able to capitalize on that fact and get us some good freshman prospects. I have a feeling he will only use 1 of the remaining 2 scholarships and hope to land a JUCO big man.

My guess is he saves the other one for what will be his 1st true class in '08, where he'll have 5 open scholarships which I hope is dominated by freshmen.

Whoa, Danny, take a chill pill. My post was meant all in fun. When there's only two schools in discussion, of course people will sound elitist when they only want to back one school. The BU/ISU rivalry is pretty tame as far as harsh words go compared to others I've seen.

I know ISU's academics are pretty good. There are more majors and specialties there, and I've heard from a job recruiter that he thought ISU and BU are on the same par. But I will continue to belittle and ridicule every ISU person I can for any reason I can think of during basketball season, and while I hope your new coach builds a better program and kicks butt in non-conference play, I pray you never beat us again.

PS - BU once held a 50 year winning streak against ISU in basketball. Look it up if you don't believe me.

No prob. I took it that you were misinformed. I agree, compared to most the rivalry is tame. If Jankovich gets the Birds going I'm sure things will heat up. With the way BU has dominated lately, it isn't much of a rivalry.

As far as the 50 year streak, I'd be surprised because I thought they didn't play until like '80 or something when ISU joined the Valley? I really don't know.

If it is true I couldn't care less. I'm only 33 and in my lifetime the battles have been pretty even. I couldn't care less what happened 50 years ago.

As one of the most notorious Bradley bashers on redbirdfan.com, I would like to state that I really root for BU and any other MVC team or mid-major team when it is out of conference.

If we didn't have such a good rivalry (better when we could compete) this message board routine wouldn't be any fun at all.

Now consider that the last nice thing I have to say about BU

                          Well said.
There is and will always be a good rivalry, but the success in the postseason of any of the MVC teams is vital to the advancement of the league.
