When Lon Kruger took over at UNLV he actually got one of his best players without even using a scholarship.
Lon's son, Kevin Kruger, had been mostly languishing at Arizona State. He was a 5th year/freshman redshirt and had one year of eligibility remaing, but because of the new NCAA rule, he could transfer without penalty and did so, coming to UNLV.
He has been one of their superstas, and was again today, with 16 points against Wisconsin. In fact, Kevin outplayed the All-Big Ten, Big Ten POY, All American Alando Tucker.
Tucker was 1-6 from 3-pt, 4-11 overall and had 17 pts, while Kevin was 4-9 from 3-pt, 4-10 overall, and had 16 points.
Kruger also had 6 rebs and 7 assists with ZERO turnovers.
Nice get by Lon.
One other thought...just less than a year ago, Oregon's Ernie Kent was under heavy pressure, and many wanted him fired.
