Mizzou has completely ruled out Huggins & Majerus and is making a full push to get Alford.

Indiana going after Pitt's Jamie Dixon, and Pitt upping the ante with extension and bonus offers.
Arizona State also making big push for Dixon.

Heath Schroyer (Fresno State assistant) will be the next head coach at Idaho.

Here are some I have heard and found

The grumbling at Minnesota has gotten louder and Dan Monson may not be back next year. If he goes, almost certainly Jim Molinari will be gone, too. Monson was interviewed this morning on a Minneapolis radio station and said he is not resigning and hopes to be back next year.
But one TV station speculates that he will be fired.
Monson has 2 years left on his present contract that pays him $700,000 per year.

Lamar coach Billy Tubbs resigned and his successor will be Steve Roccaforte.

NC State's Herb Sendek is under attack from fans who wanted to see NC State do better this year. If Sendek leaves, NC State will pursue Texas' Rick Barnes to replace him.



On the player front, Michigan State's Shannon Brown, Missouri's Thomas Gardner, Arizona's Mustapha Shakur and teammate Marcus Williams all will make themselves available for this year's draft.

A rumor that will be gaining some steam will be Lon Kruger to Arizona State (to coach his son, who will be a senior), and Bob Huggins to UNLV. My folks tell me Huggins is already shopping for houses out there. Take it FWIW.

Idaho State just announced they have hired Joe O'Brien - a guy with local connections in Illinois.
He's an outstanding junior college coach who has coached at Lincoln College and most recently at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, IA

Here's a hot coaching story.
One of the weakest D-I programs there is, Stony Brook, prerennially 300+ RPI, an independant school up through 2001,
then in the America East Conf. since '01, has rewarded their head coach Steve Pikiell, with a contract extension through 2011, after as 4-24 season!
Talk about rewarding medicrity!

Here's an extra, not really a coaching rumor.
Recently fired Idaho basketball coach, Leonard Perry was offered the assistant coaching job at USC under Tim Floyd (a job that paid as much as the top job at Idaho) but turned it down. Now he is unemployed.
Just evidence that you need to take the best job when it comes up.
