  • Molinari Might Stay at Minnesota

Here's the plan as it is being reported...

Minnesota might make an all-out push to lure UNLV head coach Lon Kruger back to the Big Ten and if he takes the Minnesota job, then since he is a long time friend of Jim Molinari (they were college roommates when they played together at Kansas State), Kruger would retain Jim Molinari as assistant coach/defensive coach at Minnesota.
Other names in the mix...Xavier's Sean Miller, SIU's Chris Lowery (but some rumblings about the slow down, low scoring style might hurt C-Lo), Butler's Todd Lickliter, and Winthrop's Greg Marshall).
Washington State's Tony Bennett's name has also been mentioned.

I wonder if Mo was presented with two options of remaining as assistant under Kruger
vs. a head coaching job at a Valley school, what do you think he'd favor?

I have no experience at all regarding Mo, but you have to think he'd take the head coaching gig, especially at a valley school. I just think anyone would rather run there own team, there way, as opposed to be working under someone.

The Kruger to Minnesota rumor is picking up steam, and the dominoes are also falling into place.
If Lon Kruger leaves UNLV, there is already a rumble in Las Vegas that they would go
so hard after UNLV alum Reggie Theus that he would find it impossible to refuse.
Theus has done a credible job rebuilding New Mexico State in just one year there.
