    Heres an idea

Maybe Memphis is getting tired of being the only big fish in the Conference USA pond. We could invite Memphis and invite Tulsa back. We could divide the conference into a North and South, (or East and West) with 6 teams per side. More or less like the big 12 or SEC. You would only play some teams from the other side once.

        The Big Power Conference.

My guess is CBS and ESPN would sue, because it seems only they have the right to decide what is and isn't a power conference. But I like it!

There was a lot of love down in StL for the MVC with the sold out crowds. Elgin's done a great job, but he's got a LOT of work left. I hope he's howling the next few days. Reaching the semifinals in all the other "power" conference tournaments is good enough. (Ex: Illinois). Not in ours.

Finally, the RPI can RIP. KenPom is now off my "favorites" list because RPI means nothing.
Don't Blame Pomoroy for the RPI. He only reports it. In fact, he has a blog entry from Feb stating the the RPI has lost it's usefulness, and based on the committees selections today, I wonder why we even continue to use it.

Memphis in the MVC scares me, but that IS a big name school that could bring legitimacy to the valley. Like I said, doubt it would happen, but I like entertaining the idea.

Memphis would never join the Valley because they have D1 football.

As much as this idea scares me I think it's a good idea, I don't know if it would ever happen, but as far as legitimizing the MVC, it would go a long way.
I would sign on for replacing Evansville and Indiana State with SLU and Butler. That would be a nice trade!
yeah, that really doesn't sound too bad.
The problem is that Butler didn't even win their conference. They finished second to a team BU beat by 40 points. If Butler was in the MVC they'd probably be middle of the road. They are incredibly overrated this year. BU has beaten every team Butler has lost to.

I think a name change would be a great first step to changing our image.

The Big Valley or the Great Midwestern Conference sounds great.

                      Tradition

I'm a traditionalist and would not want a name change.

However, a branding campaign is desperately needed. I'd try to brand something simple like.......................

                      The Valley

Yeah I don't really advocate a name change... especially since all the logos basically emphasize the Valley part. The thing I think should be the focus is that when the Big Ten network starts up that the conference make ever possible effort to get their ESPN and FS time.

Packer just called the Mountain West the "Big Mountain" on CBS. We need to get Big in the name somewhere.
