  • Sergio and Tony Bennett feud

Last night was the final home game for the Peoria Kings regular season where the Kings took on Tony Bennetts Sauk Valley Rollers.

in the first half, tony was on a break away layup when Sergio fouled Tony very hard and was called for an intentional foul. Tony immediately got up and got straight into Sergio's face and were both called for technicals.

Sergio and Tony i think have had a little fued over the past couple of months about what team Tony has been playing for.

After the techincal foul, Tony was sent to the bench and only played for about 2 minutes and was very frustrated. After halftime tony changed into his street clothes and sat behind his teams bench,...... i think this could be the last of Tony on this team

I watched the replay of the foul on the news last night...........thought the foul was a poor decision by sm and showed a lack of character he has shown through-out the season as a player coach ....and he also ripped his player's in a qoute after the game.......real mature!

Does anyone think that the Peoria Kings have played their last home game.....ever?

I saw the "highlights" of the game on the news last night and it looked like there were about 25 people there. What kind of attendance have they been getting?

I have spoken with several of the ex-BU players about playing for SM and the ABA, and I have a perspective I have shared with a few of you and will do so only off the record,
but suffice it to say that NO ex-BU guy will ever play a significant role on the Peoria Kings as long as SM is the coach.
          Book it.

The Kings are a failure. Throw in the coach's relationship with BU players - it is a failure.

SM should be in the NBA...he "schooled" most of em anyway. Just axe him.

He's a tool. Get over yourself SM....you didn't make the NBA for a reason....you're not good enough.

Since the ownership of the kings is very strong and knowing other pieces of information, i am alomst positive the kings will be around next year. after that however we will have to wait and see.......

the kings are going to make the playoffs however and will probably have a home playoff game as a matter of fact so you havent seen the last of the kings

                    Thanks Heemy....

I'll be the first to admit I do not know much about the kings as I have never been to one of their games. I was just wondering what their future looked like due to their attendance (or lack of attendance) I realize that their are a lot of opportunities to watch hoops this time of year so maybe I am putting to much emphasis on one game that appeared to be in an empty Riverplex.

The lack of attendance makes it seem very surprising that the team will still be around but I know that the people that run the Kings have a lot of money to support it. ALso I am pretty sure they have retained all of their sponsers for next year and are looking to get a few more so I was just assuming they will be back next year.

Improvement do need to be made however in their marketing and overral running of the organization if the plan on being around for anymore than a couple years

My brother plays(played) for the Kings before injury this year. IMO, the league is not run well at all, and attendance is very poor. I have also talked to several ex-BU players, and their story is all the same, they were interested in playing for the Kings, but were told they were not needed, and some of them didn't even have their phone calls returned. As far as I know they will play next year in Peoria.

This is very disappointing to hear. I know many people including my family, who would have been interested in attending the Kings games, and even becoming a season ticket holders if they had ex-Bradley players that we knew.
The geniuses who run the Kings surely had to know there was a large pool of basketball fans who follow Bradley, and would have become followers of the Kings, too, if they had some BU guys. But to spurn interest from former Bradley players, and make it a policy to stock the team with less talented players from a certain Peoria high school is stupid on their part.
I hope they are happy with the results. The attendance that can sometimes be counted in the dozens, could have been many times higher if they had done as I suggested a year ago and made an effort to attract the Bradley fans. And there is no doubt the quality of play would have been far better. If the Kings think people want to watch Sergio and his friends play instead of watching truly talented basketballers like Tony Bennett, Phil Gilbert, and others who have been spurned, they are sadly mistaken.
