  • Bradley's Resume

    From the BU website...

Coming off last year's run to the Sweet 16, Bradley is shooting to make the NCAA Tournament field in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1954 and 1955. Knocked out of the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with a tough, 53-51 loss to #11 Southern Illinois on a last-second tip-in, the Braves present the following r?sum? for their at-large chance:
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

    The 20-20 Factor

???ぎ?? According to the archives available at collegerpi.com, 147 teams have won at least 20 games against a top 20 strength of schedule since 1994-94 and all 147 teams have advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

    Did You Know?

???ぎ?? Through games of March 9, Bradley is one of six teams in the nation to beat two different 27-win teams this season: the Braves have beaten Southern Illinois (27-6) and VCU (27-6).

Bradley was 10-8 in the conference. 8 wins came against the bottom 4 teams. They beat Wichita State and SIU at home. SIU is the only quality win in the conference. They lost twice in the regular season to Northern Iowa, Creighton, Missouri State. They lost by almost 30 to Michigan State and it wasn't that close. I just don't see them getting in this year. But hey, we should get 2 games at home in the NIT.

all valid points, but a 20 win season against a top-20 SOS is impressive. And I didn't realize that teams who achieved that are 147 out of 147 when it comes to getting into the NCAA tournament.

And as far as the 8 wins coming against the bottom 4 teams, i dont see any negativity to that .. it just means that they picked up the games that they needed to. It would be different if 8 wins came against teams with an RPI of 200+ .....

I am curious as to what conferences those 147 teams were in? I bet they were all in BCS conferences (or like Temple in the A10).

I would be willing to bet that BU's SOS drops to somewhere in the low 20's before the end of the weekend's games. Ohio State is at 21 and is going to play some more games against good teams. There even may be another one or two that could go around BU. This would end the argument about top 20 SOS teams getting in because BU would no longer be in the top 20.

Joe Lunardi said 17 teams are fighting for the last 8 slots in the tournament. I wonder if Bradley is one of the 17? Aside from that woeful 2-8 mark in top 50 games, Bradley's numbers are comparable if not better than many of the bubble teams, yet no one is talking up the Braves at all....sigh. Our numbers are favorable to teams like West Virginia, Syracuse, Purdue, and Virginia, and it looks like 3 of those 4 will probably make it on the big board Sunday.

Maybe we can be this year's Air Force and give Billy and Jim something to grouse about on Sunday. One positive for Bradley is leaving a good impression in its last game. We lost by 2 to the 11th ranked team in the country in a game which we could have won outright if not forced an overtime session. Compare that to Missouri State sleepwalking through a 17 point semi-final loss to Creighton, or Old Dominion getting belted by George Mason by 16 in the CAA semi's. Sure, ODU was riding a 12-game winning streak prior to that loss, but considering how well they were playing going into that game, I think anyone on the committee would pause and say, "what happened there?".

During Monday's CAA final in Richmond, Jimmy Dykes said the selection committee will use a lot of statistical information to compare the last remaining teams to each other. Despite that, he felt it would be difficult for any committee member that participated in the process last year to forget that the CAA had one of its members get to the Final 4, or that the MVC had 2 of its 4 teams make the Sweet 16. Just a little more food for thought.

We can't possibly get in. Those spots were all eaten up today.

While I agree with your premise that we likely won't get in..

To say we can't possibly get in is false..
