  • NCAA plans & Back-up NIT plans

    I just heard this...

If BU gets an NCAA bid--there will be a 7pm Pep Rally on Sunday in the Field House

If BU fails to get an NCAA bid, then the back-up plan involves us hosting at least one game in the NIT, with our first game being next Wednesday the 14th

The home game would be a WHITE-OUT except the students would all be wearing RED, and the T-shirts would be given to 10,000 expected fans as a promotion.

how does the BU athletic department know before the nit field is announced that they will have a home game and the specific date? do they inform schools before the ncaa field is set that they will get an invite to the NIT?

I think there may be some early communication with NIT folks asking who's got what dates available.

But the NIT now seeds its participants, and the higher seeds host the early round games if they have dates and arena available, and with BU holding a sub-40 RPI it is
almost an absolute certainty that we'd be one of the highest seeded NIT teams and thus would almost be assured a home game.

and BU 06.... I knew about that release, but the part about the rally is the NEW part that
I wanted everyone to know and keep Sunday PM open!

Is the pep rally this sunday? So, I guess that'll be right after the Selection Sunday show? When is that on, about 5?

Sounds good to me, I figured I might have snuck one by ya! But you're always on the ball!

Do we have a link anywhere to NIT projections? I know someone posted a site awhile ago but I couldn't locate it through a search on the board.

BU is currently listed as a No. 3 seed.

All true, and just my 2 cents...

I think bradley currently is looking at a 3 seed (and MAYBE a 2 seed).

Last year Mo St was 21 in the RPI, got a #2 seed. While Louisville was 71 in the RPI and got a #1 seed.

I gotta believe the NIT selection/seeding committee of guys like Dean Smith, Gene Keady, and an ex-AD from Kentucky (amongst others of that ilk) will NOT make an MVC school a #1 seed (and hard pressed to make them a #2).

So, yes... we will get AT LEAST 1 at home.

But don't hold your breath for more than that.

How could Drexel be seeded above BU. Lower RPI. 95 vs 20 SOS, and they play in a much weaker conference. The numbers don't add up whatsoever.

They have one thing we don't - A win over Creighton, and on national TV no less. Otherwise, I would completely agree with you.

Is that a fact? I thought they were supposed to seed teams by RPI. How did Louisville end up with a higher seed that Missouri St last year?

They have 2 other things we don't---losses to teams with an RPI above 150.
