  • Wright St. vs. Butler question.

Ok, Im not a RPI whiz like some of you.

If Wright State (who we crushed by 39 points) can beat Butler tonight ( who is ranked 17th, and 26th in RPI) how much could that potentially help our RPI numbers?? Much?

Even if that does boost BU's RPI, that would mean the Horizon League would get 2 bids, which takes away a bid BU could have had.

It is in our best interests for EVERY conference champion to win their conference tournament. Period.

Not true Braves4Life... we want any team that has a chance at an at-large bid to win their conference tournament. Butler did not win the Horizon League, but they have a much better chance at an at-large than Wright St. So I believe Braves fans want Butler to win this game.

Now that we are deep into the season and every team has played 30+ games, there isn't much impact at all when any single opponent wins or loses.
It's kind of like how a single hit affectes your batting average early in the season, but by late in the season when you've had lots of at-bats, then one hit doesn't bump your batting average very much.

Example...last night the team we beat in the BracketBuster, VCU, WON...and yet our RPI remains unchanged.
(it may have even dropped a bit as the NCAA site had us at RPI 44 on Monday morning)

I understand Conference Champs means something to the selection committee... but I don't think it will put Wright State in with an At-Large.

They have 1 win against the Top 100 RPI (home vs Butler).

            They have the following losses:
            at 169 Youngstown
            at 181 Marshall
            at 213 Chicago St
            at 238 Wisconsin-Milwaukee
            home vs 244 Bowling Green
            at 271 Coastal Carolina
