McDermott said all along that he wouldn't leave the state of Iowa for another job, but he never ruled out that he'd take one of the big jobs in state.
I suspect Iowa wanted McDermott as well but couldn't move on him until Alford's situation clears up.
So Iowa State acted fast, made an offer that McDermott could not refuse and stole the best coach in the state.
Now who will Iowa go after?
Will they try to keep Alford?
Will they go after Altman or Turgeon?
With K-State and Mizzou in dire need of a top candidate, will the bidding for Dana and Turgeon be intense??
