Just some ammo for you guys. The MVC will finish 5th in the overall standings. No team has been left out with 20 D1 wins, in a top 5 RPI conference (since 1999 where Ken Pomeroy's site goes back to). Stamp your ticket to the dance.
There's a first time for everything, PTTB. Unfortunately it looks like that's the case for BU.
And the reason we won't make the tourney is the loss to your Panthers here in Peoria. I really think Bradley gets in ahead of Mo. State if we'd won that game.
Your SOS is the bomb and only 1 loss outside the top 100. The Braves will finish around 35-38 RPI. BU will be in. So will Mo State.
RealTime RPI has the MVC at 7th. Our RPI is 44 on RealTime, 45 on CollegeRPI.com. It's going to drop throughout the week as teams win in their conference tournaments. BU isn't getting in.

yeah i'd be very surprised if BU gets the invite in the mail, but i guess its still possible, although i not giving up faint hopes

Maybe we need to buy a few cases of Kool-Aid from Jim Les. Maybe he can set up a Kool-Aid stand by the field house near the faint remains of the red-painted street.
Think we could entice some Selection Committee members to wander by?

The Selection Committee doesn't drink Kool-Aid. They drink Hater-ade.
Maybe it will get a fresh coat in the next two years (especially in 08-09, where we definitely could be a favorite to win the conference title - as long as our great freshman class pans out as expected).
I'm not a realtimerpi.com guy. I look at Ken Pom, who I feel has been more accurate. The Valley's RPI is #6, and .0013 away from #5 Big East. As the BE teams lose in the tournaments, that will mean more .500 ball, the RPI isn't going to go up but down.

I started a similar thread using Ken Pomeroy's data, but in terms of number of teams out of the #5 through #7 conferences. Only twice since 1999 has a conference sent fewer than three teams (the 2001 WAC and 2005 West Coast Conference, each sending two teams). And in both of those instances, they were the #7 conference for those respective years.
All I can say right now is that the Valley is fluctuating between 5th and 7th almost minute by minute. I agree it will be very critical where the Valley finishes. It will also be interesting to see if the selection committee bucks the trend and only sends two teams out of a fifth ranked conference. I hope I'm wrong, but you never know what's going to happen. But that's what makes this week so much fun!

This week is not going to be fun. Had we won Saturday, it would be. Right now, we are Macauley Culkin in 'Home Alone'. We're going to be the one kid left at home when everyone else gets to travel and have fun, leaving us to have our own party at home on the 14th.
