  • The Sporting News mentions Bradley

The latest news, videos, scores and more on the biggest sports, including NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA, Soccer, Boxing, NASCAR and more with Sporting News

Bradley will be a hotly discussed team on Selection Sunday.... The coaching job by Jim Les has been largely overlooked with all the other storylines in the league, but he should've gotten greater consideration for The Valley's top coaching award after finding a way to win without the main pieces from last year's Sweet 16 team. I'm not sure an RPI of 43 is enough.

But this part of the report about Bradley was what I found funny--
Aside from the basketball, the Bradley students scored major points by chanting "please don't drop her" when Southern Illinois held its cheerleaders in the air. If you remember, SIU cheerleader Kristi Yamaoka fell from the top of a formation and had to be taken from the floor in a neck brace. But hey, she cheered as she went off the floor, and she's fine today, so we can laugh.

Go student section... some older SIU alum told us after the game to take consolation in the fact that we had a better student section. I don't know if that was an insult or a compliment but I'll take it.

I guess they ignored the various DUI-related signs/chants directed toward none other than the Player of the Year...

Yeah, didn't hear to much mention of those, the guards at the arena took away 6 signs...

Just so ya know that wasn't because of their security. They were asked to do it by BU administration. But I thought we did a great job none the less this weekend, props to all the students who were there.

Yeah I know, KK was pretty polite about it, less polite after people kept holding them up and making new ones...

I would never want to spoil fans' fun, but I have to agree with removing offensive signs. It might be OK in your home arena, but in the tournament and on TV, it does offend some people and reflects poorly on BU.
By the way, on CBS yesterday, the large Creighton student section chanted DUI frequently when Tatum had the ball. It came over the TV broadcast very clearly. I never heard the announcers talk about it.

I was surprised that they kept showing the Funk U sign on TV when Creighton was playing MSU. The announcer almost bumbled into saying something really inappropriate before he caught himself.

You mean Brad Pitt with a jump shot?

God, those announcers were making me sick with that stupid comment

Hahhah yeah... that one bothered me less than Egyptian Dogs. God, if I ever hear that again I'm going to destroy something.
