  • Duke's Henderson - Cheap Shot

If anyone was watching the end of the UNC- Duke game you saw the really cheap shot Duke's Gerald Henderson took right into the face of UNC's Tyler Hansbrough.
The broadcasters, of course, Billy Packer, et al....were so blinded by Duke worship that they kept saying it was unintentional, but the entire viewing audience and the three refs saw it otherwise.

Henderson made no effort to play the ball, and he was clearly glaring right at Hansbrough's face when he clobbered him in the nose and left blood all over the floor.

Good job refs...and I am glad you had the guts to make the call on one of whiney Coach K's players.
Now Henderson will have to sit the the next game which will be the opening game of the ACC Tournament.

Personally, I hope it really costs them.
You could see the frustration in Duke, who finishes the season
8-8 in the ACC tied for 6th with Georgia Tech.

I agree. I was surprised the way Packer attacked the officials after Henderson was ejected 'cause my first thought was that it was intentional. The ball was already gone from Hansbourgh's hands when he got hit.

The ball was way gone, and Henderson clearly was NOT looking at the ball.

I logged on to write the exact same thing about Billy Packer's comments after Henderson's foul. The ball was already well away when Henderson's arm started forward. The game was over...14 seconds left and well out of reach. A hard foul at that point is stupid anyway. A cheap shot like Henderson's was deserving of suspension. Period.

Makes me wonder....if Randal Falker did that to Hansbrough or, heaven forbid, Duke's McRoberts with 14 seconds left of a decided NCAA tournament game....would Packer defend Falker?

I think we all know the answer to that.

Did Nantz and Packer seriously discuss Duke as a possible 3 seed??? They finished 8-8 in the conference. I don't care if they're in the friggin' ACC. And somebody please explain to me how they were the No. 14 team in the country. How Duke is not even mentioned as possibly being on the bubble is ridiculous.

And, oh yeah, that foul was pretty blatant.

I have a lot of respect for Duke and Coach K. But this is NOT one of their better teams. They're 4-6 in their last ten games. Could well be 4-7 heading into the tournament. Yeah, Billy....sounds like a 3 seed.

Yeah, they are the 7th seed in their conference tournament. They shouldn't be any higher than that for the NCAA tournament.

Now now... 7th in the ACC Tourney can still mean Top7 seed in the NCAA Trny.

How do those two have any credibility left. They are just bad. I don't understand how they keep they're jobs. It drives me nuts when 'national' announcers allow their bias' to so heavily sway them. At least Coach and Snell don't try to hide the fact they root for one team, good god.

I believe I just read that the Duke player received a 1 game suspension for the ejection? Read it on the yahoo story I believe. Be interesting to see if he has to serve it during the conference tourney.

It is my understanding, he serves it for his next game... which will be in the ACC Tourney.

Unbelievable! This kid didn't even apologize and says it was an accident and he didn't try to hurt the kid.

This reminded me of Karl Malone when he tried to kill Isaiah Thomas.............this Henderson kid looked like he was throwing a punch using his elbow instead of his fist. Come on, kid! Own up and take some responsibility! What a gutless, chicken @*$& play!

                        The play:

                          Losing respect for K

I always respected Coach K and the Duke program for the way they did things. I'm starting to lose a lot of that respect after reading this:

"[Tyler] was actually fouled by Steve Johnson on the ground and by that time Gerald Henderson has left the floor. His intent is to stop him from scoring at the basket," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said Monday.

"His hand is open but the ball never goes up there and in the middle of the jump he never extends his arm and because there is no ball you can see [Gerald] turning and closing his eyes and he hits Tyler.

"If it were intentional then his hand would have been closed and he would have met him head on. To me that's what happened. It's unfortunate that the kid got hurt and all the blood. That's the way I see it. If I thought he did that intentionally, then I would suspend him for longer than a game. That's my take on it," Krzyzewski said
Tyler Hansbrough will probably play in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament despite breaking his nose during the blood-filled final seconds of No. 8 North Carolina's victory over 14th-ranked Duke on Sunday.

Coach K is a Dark Lord of the Sith.

That was clearly an intentional foul in about the purest possible sense.

                              Funny Vid

Got this link e-mailed to me the other day from a friend (yes, I have friends). I thought it was funny.

It is rather crude and profane so if it violates the rules then I understand that the mods may remove it.

But hey, you've been warned. If you follow the link then don't complain. I really don't think it's that bad..............
