Royce is deffinately a Bobby Knight guy -- unfortunately in this day and age screaming, cussing, and berating is not considered coaching. Maybe TT can take note....

Royce is the first to go and if Missouri St. does not beat WichitaSt. Barry could be the 2nd; Evansville has underachieved so could Merfield be gone also?

I sat next to Waltman at a Central game in one of those River City Shootouts when Ruffin was a Junior. We talked the entire game about recruiting, his experiences as a coach and how he became a coach.

I thought it was very cool of him to talk while he was scouting a player he definitly was interested in.

No excuses though no matter how nice a guy is they can become out of hand when the spot light turns on. Mo was a great guy the times I met him in public, sat with him at an entire chiefs game, but even he could go "balistic" at times. I used to sit 5 rows from the top across from the BU bench for season tickets and could many times hear him yelling.

I would say that IndyState would be best served to move on, IndyState is a sleeping giant, but they need a high energy, young coach with ties to either the state or the university.

It all depends on what Indiana State WANTS to do.
If they are going to lure a top guy to coach their program they are going to have to commit to spending the resources to do so.
If they are going to offer a 9-10th best salary among Valley coaches they won't be able to interest anyone.

Of course they could start with Jim Molinari.

Who knows, their president is awful(I'd take Broski over him) so it's hard telling what he wants. He is trying to make ISU a more exclusive university more like Purdue or IU in terms of acceptance standards and programs, including bringing in a Law School and such, so ya just never know.

Royce will coach at least 1 more game as Ill. State lays an egg tonight against what I believe is the worse team in the valley by a long shot.

I talked with Rotce in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza (I didn't think Indiana State was staying there, but he was). He seemed quite relaxed and calm.

As he should. Right now, ISU is the laughing stock of the state. Their admissions standards are low, and the quality of their programs is just as low. There really isn't any strength of ISU, and most people only go there because they couldn't get into IU or Purdue (Which is sad, because Purdue is VERY easy to get into!).

As far as Royce goes, I like him. I'd like to see him get another year, but the Sycs have struggled since making the NCAA second round in '01. I'd like to see him stay, as he seems to be doing a decent job with the recruiting game in a tough conference.

During the halftime interview (Creighton leads 32-20), the reporter asked Royce what his team had to do to get back in the game, his answer started off "Well, I'm not sure we really can..."

                        Talk about brutal honesty...

They were in it giving the Jays fits, until Creighton went on a 10-0 run to close out the half.
People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

The announcers definitely sounded like they knew something was up. At the end of the game, they said that they were not sure what was to come for Royce tomorrow.
