  • Daniel Ruffin = best point guard in the MVC

I know some people are tired of this debate, but before this season, there were posters who debated that Daniel Ruffin was the top point guard in the MVC.

I recall one poster on another board saying there were 7 point guards in the league he would take ahead of Ruffin! (They were Mullins, Dotzler, McKowen, Holsinger, Boo Richardson, Gabe Moore, and Al Stewart)

Well, here are the All-MVC awards--
    First Team
    Blake Ahearn, Missouri State
    Randal Falker, Southern Illinois
    Nate Funk, Creighton
    Jamaal Tatum, Southern Illinois
    Anthony Tolliver, Creighton

    Second Team
    Eric Coleman, Northern Iowa
    Will Franklin, Bradley
    Daniel Ruffin, Bradley
    Grant Stout, Northern Iowa
    Matt Webster, Evansville

    Honorable Mention
    Ajay Calvin, Drake
    Tyler Chaney, Missouri State
    PJ Couisnard, Wichita State
    Levi Dyer, Illinois State
    Kyle Wilson, Wichita State

Note the absence of point guards among the 1st and 2nd teams and the Honorable Mention list, except for Daniel Ruffin and Will Franklin (who played more 2-guard this year). Not a single one of those 7 other point guards made any of these lists.

So it seems the voters for the league awards also recognize that Daniel is clearly the best PG in the MVC. Any objections if we declare the case closed?

DRuff = best PG in the Valley hands down.
Those people on the other boards are notorious BU bashers,
I don't let it bother me.

tornado, I agree with you and Da Coach 100%. DR is THE BEST POINT GUARD in the Valley without a doubt. He would start at point on every team in our league. Congrats DR and Will well deserved honor. I feel bad for Jeremy as I also believe he should have been in the mix somewhere.

I agree that Ruffin, this year certainly, was the best PG in the MVC (and one of the best I've seen playing in any conference). The POY/All MVC voting kind of bothered me, because I wouldn't trade DRuff for Ahearn or Tatum (and probably not even Funk).

JC will get his due today, when the Most Improved Team is announced. No doubt, JC will be at the head of the class!

I would also expect Danny Adams to be recognized on the All Bench Team.
