What about the Syracuse - Georgetown game last night?
I'm not sure how many of you listen to ESPN radio, but Mike & Mike got into an interesting debate on whether a team that has been as successful as Syracuse should EVER storm the court, especially if they are having a good season (20 wins).
A couple different points were discussed:
-Yes, they should be able to do it because it's college and you want to be able to "celebrate" with the players.
-Yes, they should be able to do it because the younger students weren't around for the National titles.
-No, because when you win National titles, you should have the attitude that you've been there before and expecting to beat everyone on your home floor. Rushing the court makes it look like it was an upset.
-No, because Syracuse isn't a bad team. They won a conference game at home against a good opponent.
Jim Boeheim was brought on later in the show and he had no problem with it. Tom Izzo (Michigan State) was also on the show a week ago and he supported the idea as well.
Now, I have seen the debate about "safety" a million times about the rushing the court/field. I don't want to get into that here. I am curious to see what people believe are the right and wrong times for a prggram to be rushing onto the floor. Pretend that there was no threat of safety problems.
