MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin was on WMBD this morning. I was only able to catch the last couple of minutes of the interview but here are some snipetts of what he had to say...
He was asked if he thought the selection committee will take into account JC's injury and the fact he was out for eight games....he said they will definately take that into account. "The committee does a much better job keeping tabs on injury situations than they did a few years ago....
When asked if he thought the pundits still had egg on their face after the success of mid-majors last year... he said "I think so, the key is to not let them off the hook. We (the MVC) need to keep having post season success and show that we are not a one year fluke...we should have six teams in post-season play and hopefully we will enjoy the same type of success that we had last year....
Last, he was asked about the MVC tourney...he said that ticket sales have been great....about 13,000 all session tickets have been sold. The lower bowl is SOLD OUT! He mentioned that tickets are still available and that some people may not attend all the sessions (when their school is not playing) however, he thought more people would stay for other sessions this year as opposed to past years due to the overall competitiveness of the league.
That's basically what I heard....if anyone else heard the beginning of the interview please let us know what else was said. Thanks!
