  • Missouri Valley's All Time Best Players

    The vote is in..
The Missouri Valley has announced it's all time best players.

    The starting five...
    Hersey Hawkins
    Larry Bird
    Oscar Robertson
    Ed Macauley
    Xavier McDaniel
    Coach-Hank Iba

    The rest (50 in total)
include Joe Allen, Mitchell Anderson, Gene Melchiorre, Roger Phegley, Paul Unruh, and Chet Walker.

    Coaches include Chuck Orsborn.

I guess I am a bit surprised that Dick Versace didn't get in but his relatively short stay in the Valley was likely the reason (although Tubby Smith only stayed in the Valley 4 years), and I am also a little surprised Chet Walker wasn't in the first five, but can hardly argue the outcome.

People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

I guess this is the kind of list you get if you do it by an online vote...because people will stuff the ballot boxes and there's no way to prevent that.

But are you really serious that anyone actually thinks
      Ashraf Amaya
      Warren Armstrong
      Darren Brooks
      Rodney Buford
      Chad Gallagher
      Bob Harstad
      Rico Hill
      Ben Jacobson
      Danny Moore
      Allan Murphy
      Carl Nicks
      Ryan Sears
      Kent Williams

were better players and had more notable MVC careers than Anthony Parker or Jim Les?

I think Hill, Buford and Brooks were on par with AP in terms of there college career, doesnt matter what they did afterward if my interpertation of the poll is correct.
        Can we start winning soon?

Brooks was no where near AP. Remember Parker was named The Sporting News' National first team shooting guard before his senior season. Brooks was a very fine player and a good rebounding guard in a guard's league, but Parker was flashy, explosive, and silky smooth all at the same time.

Anthony Parker definitely should be in the Top 50. He had it all, a complete game, all american, game winning shots...not to mention he was the only guy to show up when bu played stanford

There is absolutely no way no how Ryan Sears was in the same atmosphere as Jim Les as a basketball player. Heck Willie Scott, Anthony Manuel and Rob Dye were better players then Sears. And might as well say the I think Bayo was equal too or better then Ashraf Amaya. But the leaving of Les off the squad in favor of Sears is a travisty.

I'll take Carl Nicks and Rodney Buford. They were both as good or better.
