Greg Dreiling was a McD AA but started at Kansas then went to WSU when he was unhappy at Kansas
    completely bass-ackwards T

Dreiling started at Wichita along with Sherrod (who never made the impact many felt he would) and then went to Kansas after Smithson left Wichita St. He was on Kansas Final Four team in '86 along with Turgeon and Manning. Dreiling was their starting center. Look it up.

There's 2 guys right there in Sherrod and Dreiling who signed with Wichita St. out of HS and were infact McDonald's AA.

but I'd still like to know if any of the McD AA's went straight to a midmajor in the past 20 years
Like I said in my first post, it's been about 25 years and I can't think of any since then. There have been a couple that were
    close, but didn't sign.

Followthis link--scroll down and you'll see Dreiling's very solid Freshman season in the '81-'82 yeat at Wichita St.

sorry, DC, I had it backwards, but as I said, I think the concept of McD AA's always have to be a big-school-commit has been firmly solidified over the past 20 years or so.
