  • MVC Tourney Seeding

Going into Saturday's MVC season finale games, lots of seeds are up in the air. BU can't crack into the top 3 seeds, and a win against IndSt locks up #4. So lets just count on that. If BU wins along with both WSU and UNI win, WSU has the tie breaker for #5.

But in the event we repeat Tuesday's performance and BU loses, it looks like there could be a jumble at 9-9. A UNI win over ISU gives UNI the tie breaker over BU. Also, a WSU win over Creighton puts us into a league tie breaker for the 5/6 seed (http://www.mvc-sports.com/ViewArticl...01&SPSID=41239). If both UNI & WSU win with a BU loss, I'm not sure exactly what the tiebreaker does.

I doubt both UNI and WSU win so it looks like we end up in the 4/5 game against one of those two teams.

After all the games are played and the dust settles, who do we stand a better chance of beating to get to SIU in the quarterfinals--UNI or WSU?

I really would prefer to play UNI. Despite our recent loss I really think if we're on they will give us much less trouble than WSU, who can be dangerous.

I would rather face WSU, I think UNI big men Coleman and Stout give us too much problems (and thus the two loses). WSU is on a downward out of control spiral.

You never know what team you will get with UNI, the good or the bad, we have not beaten their good team yet.

I thought if Bradley, UNI and WSU all tie for 4th... the tie-breaker starts with head2head, if still tied, then go by the point system. Head2head, UNI is 3-1, WSU 2-2, BU 1-3... which means we wind up the 6 seed (UNI the 4, WSU the 5)... is this right?

Bradley will beat Ind. State and be the 4th seed; Wichit State will lose at Creighton and N. Iowa will beat Ill. State at home to get the 5th seed ; we will play N. Iowa in St. Louis on Friday at 2:30 ; we can beat them as we should have tues.

Pretty much. It will be a nice payback too. Fine, have your two season games, but we're kicking your asses out of the tournament first round. Go back to Iowa!

This scenario is good for Bradley fans. Wichita State fans have bought thousands more tickets than UNI fans, so if Bradley plays UNI on Friday afternoon, and Wichita plays in the night session, there should be a lot of tickets available for Bradley fans to come down Friday and get a great seat!
But don't count out Wichita State winning at CU. However, I think UNI holds the tiebreaker.

If UNI and WSU tie in the standings, UNI holds the tie breaker by virtue of the "points" system.

After thinking this over, I'm hoping to play UNI as well. They've beat us twice and I believe it's real tough to beat the same team three times in the same year (see ISU a few seasons ago when we lost to them in STL after beating them twice). I know WSU is falling apart, but especially after Tuesday, I want another shot at UNI.
