Originally posted by MacabreMobThere are so many GREAT players in the MVC - limiting it to just 5 is hard to do. Then looking at our Non-Con games... our Non-Conf SOS is 18 so there are also too many more to look at.
Maybe we need to look at ourselves... we have beaten ourselves at times.

Sammy Meijia - DePaul (One of the best players in the Big East)
Blake Schlib - Loyola (Had his worst game of the season against BU, very talented)
Nate Funk - Creighton (MVC Player of the Year, maybe?)
Blake Ahearn - Missouri State (Clutch, clutch shooter)
Eric Coleman - UNI (Two double-doubles and he flat out was unstoppable when we didn't double team him).
Honorable mentions
Anthony Tolliver - Creighton (Might surprise a few people, but he's killed us enough times in his 437-year career to get honored here).
B.A. Walker - VCU
Drew Neitzel - Michigan State
Randal Falker - SIU
Now if you want to say who were the five who played the best against us this year:
Rome Sanders - Florida A&M (9-10 shooting, 21 pts)
Matt Webster - Evansville (39 pts in 2 games)
Greg Dilligard - ISU (Did not miss once, 13-13 from the field in two games)
Randal Falker - SIU (Double-double in both games)
Nate Funk - Creighton (43 points, 2 games)
Honorable mentions:
Ajay Calvin - Drake (38 pts in 2 games)
Anthony Tolliver - Creighton (2 double doubles)
Karon Bradley - Wichita State (Just for the game at Wichita, where he went 8-10 from the field, 5-6 3 pt, 21 pts)
Eric Coleman - UNI
I'm sure many of you will disagree with these, but I had to throw out some names...Go Braves!

Going only on this season.....I would select...
Tony Young...he made all the difference when we played SIU in Carbondale
Nate Funk...dare I have to say why...he engineered a season sweep by Creighton over BU.
Blake Ahearn...Blake did for MSU what Funk did for CU...help led them in scoring both games against BU.
Eric Coleman...a major force inside with 16 pt-14 reb in the first game and then 14 pt-10 reb in the 2nd game leading to the season sweep.
Drew Neitzel...if you saw the Michigan State game, then saw the game Neitzel had against Wisconsin, then you know what I mean.
Honorable Mention...as much as I hate to give him this award...I'd have to say Jamar Smith, for the offensive spurt he gave Illinois that was the full difference in that game.

Wow, that isn't sayin much for the Big East. I wouldn't put him in the top 10 in the MVC.DUBL R 1

He and Meijia would both be in the top 10 players in the MVC in a minute. Their supporting cast is incredibly inconsistent, hence why DePaul knocks off ranked teams and then loses to St. Johns.Go Braves!
