  • Something to think about

We have several players' family members who are regular readers and posters here, so we appreciate the almost unanimously positive and supportive posts by the great Bradley fans we have.

But this year, Wichita State has had a disappointing season, and tonight they lost another home game to Missouri State, leaving them in danger of playing on Thursday and maybe missing the postseason. One of their seniors, Kyle Wilson, has had a great senior season, but some of the other WSU players have been inconsistent. Still, Wilson has been the target of some negative posting by fans at times.

Here is a post I saw on the Wichita fan board that should make us all realize these kids are just young kids that are trying their best to help their team's win.

I have been a member of many sports message boards on a variety of levels and can honestly say that bradleyfans is by far and away the least depressing, most realistic, most level-headed, and most G-rated board I've ever frequented.

It makes such a huge difference when you can log on and know you'll be able to read thought-provoking and interesting posts instead of the nonsense spewed on seeminlgy every other board.

Sadly, nowadays, its becoming the adults at high school and lower level sports that are acting up and throwing insults at the refs and players. I believe I read 2 or 3 stories this past week in the Peoria area of adults throwing stuff onto the court and causing a ruckus at high school basketball games. College players and lower shouldn't have to endure the insults and in some cases threats if they are not getting paid to play. In most cases, the players don't get anything out of playing in the team sport other than personal satisfaction. A very few get to go onto the pros but most do it for there own satisfaction, fans shouldn't ruin it for them.

Absolutely disgraceful and horrible that those juvenile posters would attack a college kid in such a way as to provoke that response by Kyle Wilson's parents.

I guess I know how I'd feel if my own kids were attacked the way I have seen some local posters go after some of the BU players.
JJ Tauai, Marcello Robinson, Brandyn Heemskerk, Jeremy Crouch, and many other BU players have been the targets of small minded people who simply want to attack because I guess it makes them feel superior.

I hope some of the people from the other board and some of the moderators catch on to what's being said in this thread and keep those terribly hurtful posts off the boards in the future.

I had the chance to meet some of Kyle's family down in St. Louis last year after one game in the tourney and found them all to be great people.

His mom, dad and an aunt were all there and we all had some good conversation and laughs.. It truly is a shame that people act juvenile some times at sporting events.

You can dislike the opponents, but personal taunts and insults are uncalled for IMO...
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

Brandon was a huge target on the other board because he was 7ft and wasn't dominant. Crouch was picked on as well because of his sophmore slump. Both came back in their own way and showed that they deserved the scholarships they were given and have made everyone proud they were/are part of the BU family.
