Kyle Whelliston, who i do love to read because he seems to put effort and intelligence into his articles, from Espn, wrote of the aftermath of the BB and has a lot of great things to say about Bradley

"If it does somehow turn out to be a two-bid Valley (unleashing a torrent of misguided "what went wrong" stories), don't be shocked if the lucky pair is Southern Illinois and current fourth-place Bradley (19-10, 9-7 MVC). "

    here is the article:
After 14 TV games and 37 other BracketBusters contests, Kyle Whelliston draws some conclusions from what we saw.

    BU looks good...

    Okay,

    1. Assume SIU wins the last 2 conf games and is 15-3.
    2. Assume CU loses either at ISU or against WSU and is 13-5.
    3. Assume MSU loses either at WSU or Drake and is 11-7.
    4. Assume BU wins the last 2 conf games and finishes 11-7.

    So,

    1. SIU's RPI will still be in the top 10 - 15, 10-0 in their last 10 games.
    2. CU's current RPI is 27, so losing one game drops them in the low 30's, 7-3 in their last 10 games.
    3. MSU's current RPI is 41, so losing one game drops them to the mid 40's, 6-4 in their last 10 games
    4. BU's current RPI is 29 and winning out keeps them steady in the high 20's - low 30's, 7-3 in their last 10 games.

At this point, SIU is the only lock for a bid. The Valley tourney becomes ever so important.

Prediction - If CU wins 2 tourney games, they are in. If BU wins 2 tourney games, they are in. I predict that the only way MSU gets in is if they win the tourney.

Wow - St. Louis will be fun come March 1-4.

      SIU is a lock.
CU is a virtual lock (although can't afford too many slip-ups)
BU is a lock IF they win their next 4 (A big 'if').
MSU has to get to the title game to be in IMO.

MSU screwed themselves royally by getting embarrassed Friday night. There are few people, Bears fans included, who think that we're not at least equal to, if not ahead of them in the MVC pecking order.

        BB:

So, If we are a 4 seed, and beat the 1 seed SIU, and 3 seed MSU beats 2 seed CU, to set up a BU vs. MSU title game, you think MSU gets in, or must they win the title to get in? I think they must win, otherwise, you're talking 4 bids for the MVC. Not sure if the MVC is a 4 bid league but, who knows, crazier things have happened....

Under that scenario, we're 4-bidding. IMO. But that's just about the only scenario that exists that will get us to 4.

In that scenario, maybe Creighton slips off the bubble. Especially if they lose in the first round in St. Louis.

the one thing i just don't understand, i know that CU has a better conference record, thats clear cut, but they really don't have a "big" win. There best win RPI wise is the sweep of BU, they swept MSU and beat Xavier, but they don't have that big win, the one that turns some heads.

              MSU has Wisconsin and BU

BU has SIU, Depaul, Wright St, and VCU

CU really has to finish strong if they want to make it in as a lock, because IMO, they don't have a head turner yet

We keep rebounding like we did at VCU and this could be an interesting tourny.

yeah that was as good of a game as I've seen BU play. VCU get the tempo up so I could've done away w/ some of the sloppy, crazy passes, but other than that, if they play like that in St. Louis, they are going to be tough.

                      I still think

We have a terrible uphill climb due to being swept by Creighton and MSU ... minimum need to get to MVC final to avoid being last years MSU (high RPI, left out due to 1-7 vs top 50)
