Sure...I still let them....they are free to say and do as they please...although there will be some control of it on this board.
But in case you hadn't noticed, me and my pro-BU stance have been mercilessly attacked by a few of those who thought they had some pretty strong arguments about Jim Les, and they labelled the pro-Jim Les folks as Koolaid drinkers, zombies, and even racists and backstabbers for not supporting one of the other candidates.
I just reserve the right to remind those anti-BU folks how bad the mess would be if the powers on the hilltop had actually listened to them and canned Jim Les when they were asking for it.
You mean you don't remember the threads elsewhere trashing JL, asking who they should hire as the next coach and how long are we going to put up with losing when the "cupboard was not bare"? Never mind that even Dana Altman wasn't winning in his first 4 seasons.
And, like I say, if they'd have all gone away we wouldn't be having this conversation, but I get PM's still from them attacking JL and the pro-BU folks, and some of them still post anti-BU stuff....did you not see it over the weekend?

May I remind you, that the preponderance of anti-BU sentiment is the reason this message board came about, it is the very thing that called for a new place for the real Bradley fans to gather and discuss without being slammed repeatedly by those who held some hatred for JL or BU.
And is it any surprise that this message board has grown by leaps and bounds?

You're right, and Im glad you guys put this sight together. Honestly, at the time I didn't think JL was the best candidate for the job, and I still don't think he was, but I'm glad the selection committee thought he was, as he has turned into an outstanding coach. Anyone who still thinks that JL has not turned the program around or thinks we are not moving in the right direction, IMO isn't worth listening to or even arguing with because they are obviously just negative towards BU(the people you are talking about). Believe me, anything you write or post will probably not change their minds, and no matter where you go or what site you create, these "haters" will follow. Plus, I like
Kool Aide. I doubt we could get around the copy rights, but wouldn't the Kool-Aide man be a great BU mascot?

He remains a part of our family and needs us now more than ever. The most important thing is that both young men are alive, and that Brian is expected to make a full recovery."

"extremely poor judgement" = criminal and negligent behavior

but here's what really begins to smell bad....

These are quotes from the PJ Star...

First..
it says that assistant coach Wayne McClain arrived at the apartment complex and transported Jamar Smith to the hospital.

then it says:
"About 1 a.m., police located Smith and transported him to Carle"

But the Daily Illini states:
"Smith drove the damaged car 1.5 miles from the site of the accident back to his apartment and both players were transported via ambulance to Carle"

Hmmmm....I am confused....which is it??


But here is something I would like to know.
If indeed Jamar called the coaches right after the accident, and if the coaches were there at the apartment, and then later at the hospital, which seems to be factual at this time, they must have all known that alcohol, partying, underage drinking, and serious misjudgements were at play here.

Why didn't they come forward and make a statement that they knew this and that those who had violated team and university rules would be disciplined.

Instead, they did just about everything they could do to give the appearance that they wanted to cover it all up and hope iot would just go away.

They had to have known this would all come out....why didn't they make an intelligent statement early on...instead of acting like nothing seruious happened and we're all supporting the poor innocent victims...?

Bruce is just plain wrong or maybe trying to spin this more favorably for U of I.
This was not just "poor judgement". It was criminal behavior, and a long string of "poor judgements". I am tired of all the apologists telling us we shouldn't jump to conclusions, yet they jump to these silly excuses like--
"he had a concussion and probably wasn't capable of thinking clearly"
"he's just a 19 year old kid and he isn't mature enough to know what to do in that situation"
"the timeline shows he didn't leave Carwell in the car for 2 hours"
When in fact, Smith never did call anyone for help for Carlwell.

I feel sorry for Jamar Smith, but his actions that night are criminal and indefensible.
--starting with the drinking and partying while underaged, driving while impaired, causing the accident when there was nobody else on the road, causing serious injury to his friend, leaving the scene of the accident despite the fact the car was damaged far too seriously to be safely driveable, leaving his friend alone and seriously injured in the car, failing to call for emergency help, and who know how many other "poor judgements" at the apartments and thereafter.
If this had been any of us, we would have been hauled off in handcuffs that night. So Smith has already received special treatment, ala Luther Head, Rich McBride, and Aaron Spears.
Unfortunately, he won't get off easy like the others did with charges dropped, and a suspension for a couple meaningless games.

Is it a routine in felony cases to allow the defendant to simply get in a car with a relative and drive away, leave town and go wherever he wanted?
