I think that the league will get only 2 teams. As has been pointed out to me several times this year, teams make the tourney not the league. If you look at the teams, there are only 2 and one of them (Creighton) is trying to play their way out after losing at home to Drexel. If SIU or Creighton wins the tourney, the MVC will get only 2 teams. BU and MS may have a shot if either wins out and gets to the championship game. Otherwise, no dice. OK, rip me!

MVC - 2 Teams in the NCAA...

Don't forget the NCAA looks at things like how teams do at the end of the season, and Bradley is hot. If they win the last 2 conference games and finish in 3rd (or a tie for 3rd) and win a couple games in the NCAA why wouldn't the NCAA give Bradley an at-large bid?
BU got an at-large bid last year with an RPI of 33 (their RPI is now 30 and could improve with a good finish).
Bradley's record last year was 20-10. This year it would be 24-11 if they finish as I think they could.
They would be the 3rd place team in the MVC (or at least tied for 3rd). Last year they were tied for 5th place. Plus the MVC proved a lot of people wrong last year with 2 teams in the Sweet 16, and is just as strong overall as last year.
If Bradley got an at large bid last year, why wouldn't they get one this year? They are as good or better in every way.

Jerry Palm does a breakdown of potential at-large teams. He calls it the Fence Sitters. We were NOT on the list until we won at VCU. Here is what he has to say:
GOOD - RPI, W 4 of last 5, W vs SIU
BAD - 1-7 vs top 50, L @Tenn Tech
COMMENT - Bradley is playing well right now, but probably needs to win about four more in a row. The Braves' RPI is a little deceiving. They have played only one team below 200 (Florida A&M), but 13 from 100-200.

If SIU and Creighton are in the final tournament game, I think only 2 teams from the Valley will go to the NCAA (both of them). But anything can happen between now and then, such as injuries, accidents, and upsets. Some of the teams in the 6-10 rankings in the Valley can be spoilers. We cannot control what happens in other conferences. The best Bradley can do is keep focused on playing one game at a time. I believe our team is playing better at the end of this season and our players look healthy (especially JC).

I wasn't sure what thread to stick this comment in, so I will put it here.
I just cruised over and read many posts on the message boards of every Missouri Valley team, plus on Valleytalk.
The overriding sentiment on the boards of Indiana State, Missouri State, and even to some degree ISU and Drake and the Evansville posters on Valleytalk is that they need new coaches and/or total revamps to keep up with the rest of the Valley.
Creighton and Wichita are bummed out but not yet ready to jettison their coaches, Wichita people talking NIT, Bluejay fans arguing ditch the Bracketbuster.
And even the SIU board has some odd feelings....some people thinking that SIU is too good for the Valley and wanting to look for another conference while one poster worried that they were living on borrowed time...meaning he was worried they were headed for a downturn...just as soon as Lowery gets a better offer elsewhere and they then have player desertions.
Many of the posters even on the UNI board are a little ticked at their head coach--
Here's what I find to be so hard to believe.
The last few years have brought success and improved quality of play to the Valley and has brought the Valley back to the glory days rivalling the 80's and maybe even the 60's.
BUT.........what I see is that the fans of almost all the Valley teams (except maybe of late, Bradley) are still miserable to some degree....
I have to ask......is this just a message board thing that people seem so generally miserable in the midst of "prosperity" or are people really just that hard to please all the time?
