Yes, Winthrop is a good team, but MSU should have beaten them at home. Winthrop shot "lights out" and MSU looked terrible. This could turn out to be a bad weekend for the MVC.

The other Home teams for the MVC are Illinois State (Ball St.), Indiana State (Miami, OH), Drake (UW-Milwaukee), Creighton (Drexel), and Wichita State (App. St.). That's the worst 3 teams in the MVC plus a team in Wichita that has injury problems. It would be overly optimistic to think the MVC will win all those games at home, and they could lose a couple.

The road teams are Bradley (at VCU) , Evansville (Samford), Northern Iowa (Nevada), and Southern Illinois (Butler). Again, I don't see more than a couple wins coming there. I think it's likely the MVC will be solidly in 7th place after tomorrow.
Wow now I am REALLY worried. When the always overly optimistic "Da Coach" is concerned about The Valleys chances, it might be time to "circle them there wagons."

If BU could tie Missouri St. for 3rd and win 1 game in St. Louis they may be up for the 3rd spot in the tour. as the valley deserves at least 3 if not 4 teams again this year.

Winthrop should have beaten North Carolina earlier in the season. However, like others have said, this is a bad loss for MSU. If the MVC wants to be a 'power' conference, it can't lose games like this at home.

Yes, the Valley has a chance to come full circle. Two bids, and guess who they are again: SIU and Creighton! The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Hey-- there's something really weird about that box score.
Notice it says Shane Laurie is 2-4 shooting overall, but 2-9 from 3-point range.
              How can that be?

They also have the rebound numbers all wrong as can be seen below, and this box score fails to understand that there are two players named S. Laurie on Missouri State, and it messes up their stats.

Also if you add the individual totals of 3-point shooting (for MSU) it comes to 6-27 and yet the totals at the bottom say 8-36.

ANYWAY, Missouri State played bad. I wish they'd have played this bad when we played them.
They shot bad, they passed bad, they defended bad, and seemed like they just weren't trying.
Blake Ahearn never once got to the FT line.
Don't they know it's automatic when he does?
So they should run some plays to get him driving to the hoop and draw fouls, yet I never saw that happen once!
I am very discouraged that they blew this chance to help the Valley.
