  • New Class of 2008 rankings

Courtesy of our own fellow poster, Daniel Ponemann at illinoishsbasketball.com

Bradley has reportedly offered at least 10 of the top 20.

Webs.com has been shut down on the 31st of August 2023. Find out what that means for your site and how to move it to another provider.

Daniel, what do you make of this report on Iowa/Rivals that Beas Hamga is going to try to get qualified to be Class of 2007, in other words...he thinks it's possible he may be able to skip his "senior" year?

(5th paragraph---"Beas Hamga is still hoping to he can become part of the Class of 2007."
"......7-foot center Beas Hamga, who has been having a terrific season at Decatur Christian. Hamga is still working towards possibly being a 2007 recruit, but if that does not happen, he will certainly be in Iowa City in the fall of 2008."

If that's the case...it sure does fit what I've been saying all along...these kids are way older than most in their class and they've all been in high school 4-5 years already, but most was overseas where the records are not so clear.
This is the Mac Koshwal story all over...and speaking of Koshwal, who graduated 8th grade in June of 2000, he still isn't out of high school!!!

Careful T, I'm sure there are a few on the board with similar HS experiences - LOL. I know college was the best 6 years of my life - ha ha.

I did not see one kid from Peoria in the rankings, what has happened to all the talent that used to come out of Peoria?

Agreed, None of the juniors in the Peoria area have impressed people statewide, but Matt Roth from Washington is getting a little notice.

I did an advanced search on Rivals for all the kids in Illinois in Class of 2008, and NONE are from Peoria, Matt Roth is the only one from the Peoria region, and the next closest kids are from Bloomington, Geneseo, and Decatur.

I did a similar search on scout/insiders and found the same.
NOT ONE rated kid from Peoria in Class of 2008.

Class of 2009 has only DJ Richardson of Central and Jordan Prosser of Eureka, so the Peoria Pipeline is maybe drying up?
